English playmakers and the lack of them

Most of thee country was begging for Grealish to play. But then as we kept winning loads of people started saying you can't complain at Southgate's selection and tactics becuase it's getting us further than usual. But the final was there for the taking if he had a more attacking outlook.
Grealish is not the type of playmaker that's been talked about.
 
Grealish, Smith-Rowe and Saka are the three with true playmaking abilities. Some people will say Foden but I see his style as being more direct.

Last year at university I wrote a dissertation on what UK coaches and talent selectors look for in Youth players to be recruited in academies. The majority of elite coaches I interviewed said physical attributes like pace and strength are the key indicator of football talent. So yes I believe it's a culturally influenced, stemming from grassroot coaching and scouting.
