Good of the club to put ETH in his place. All this nonsensical talk about getting many signings before window close. We don't need anyone, obviously.

I know most of you don't like what is happening at the club, but the media is way worst. They have been writing all sort of articles every time we have a negative result or a issue with transfers, and they do it because there are more people who support this club than anywhere else. This is another rubbish article, with the media trying to put another 1+1=2 (yet to make midfield signings + ETH's tone during press conferences) together to make it sound "realistic". The media is supposed to be factual yet all they do is make fake stories.

I agree. People are saying we should boycott sponsors but I think boycotting media would be more effective for our club.

Liverpool had the right idea years ago boycotting the Sun (under very different circumstances albeit).

Need to stop giving these dead-end job loser journos the time of day.

That article is pretty much pointless, doesn't really say anything. But people will read the headline and go hysterical.

Boehly has no clue what he’s doing & is spunking money left right and center, it’ll all come crashing down soon enough.
No, it really won’t . You all laughed when I said, months ago, that Boehly would make Romans spending look anemic.

But here we are, about to try and double Romans biggest window spend. And he is a tactical specialist at making account books fit into things like FFP, so that is not an issue.

he hasn’t just signed a few big names, he has signed like 4 or 5 of the VERY top U-19 and U-18’s and wants to elevate what is already one of the best academy systems.

He wrote out his first loan to himself (for accounting purposes) to the tune of 900 million to start the Bridge area project. And his base commitment on that project is double that number. And no, it’s not additional debt, it was factored into the cost of the club very specifically by the Raine group when evaluating suitors

The Clearlake Group is not going to slow down anytime soon. I expect them to also identify and spend the money to hire the very best executives and support staff possible.

We happen to be trying for the same player, but the original thread title article had nothing to do with Chelsea. You need/deserve owners with conviction. You need a structure that doesn’t consist of a bunch of old men in back rooms squabbling. When someone asks “who’s in charge at United” there should be a clear answer. And while the manager should be given input and all support, in modern football the answer shouldn’t BE the manager.

As for splashing money…. Man aside from a lack of strikers I love our window. If we sign Fofana that will be a massive upgrade on Kounde for essentially 20 m difference, which can be spread out easily. Cucurella is pure class. We have moved on and are moving in a LOT of surplus. Boehly is looking the man to actually rid us of Drinkwater and Bakayoko … which is a miracle.

The Glazers have been willing to spend money on a new player, but the real test is the willingness to spend money to move players on when you realize they aren’t right.

Good point there. United holding onto/hoarding players has probably been just as damaging as their recruitment, and it’s carrying on with Murtough. Bruno was given an unnecessary raise and extension just a few months ago, and I expect Saint Marcus will soon get the same.

Yeah the hoarding has definitely set us back

With Newcastle coming up in next 2-3 years, Spurs getting stronger with Conte!! Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea already strong and Arsenal improving every year….. I simply don’t see Utd playing CL under current ownership for a number of years or decades infact!!

With another no CL season, we will lose more players and best players won’t opt for us!!

I think even the idea of transition and improving to get in top 4 is pretty much gone given the above!!

So either we have a change in ownership that allows us to flex our financial muscle and be the team to beat in 2-3 years or we should start getting content with top half of the table!!

Judging by his transfer targets, he seems to have taken this to heart.

Hopes are definitely lowered now for everyone at the club from the players, the manager (he can't be absolved from blame), the club directors and most of all the glazers.

Hard to argue against this now. The only solution is to force out the owners because nothing is going to change with the culture of our club until they’re gone.

I'd take relegation at this point. Feck it. It'll give us the chance to start from real scratch. Seems to work out well with Juventus and more recently Rangers north of the border.
