So is this about right...
This only shows that the ownership structures in the domestic game have to change. Bundesliga sides are opposed to the Euro superleague plans because the German model means commercial investors cannot have more than a 49% stake in clubs, so fans hold a majority of their own voting rights.
Exactly, this was an inevitable end-point once private ownership of clubs became popular.

UEFA sells the CL license to broadcasters. UEFA simply awards clubs a fixed pool for participation.

The FA owns and sells the TV rights and distributes it according to the contract.

The clubs don't own the TV deals.
Point being? You just can't can the best performing or best viewed teams from a tournament for non sporting reasons. Lawsuits would fly.

Don't get too emotionally invested in this guys. It's just posturing between greedy organisations wanting bigger pie. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show, it won't happen.
Well they have been posturing for three years then. Because this concept has been around for that long and has grown arms, legs and a head.

It's time, let's see what is said. This is embarrassing for the game of Football though.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
Presumably players need some sort of formal 'ok' (a licence or something) to play in the current leagues? Either given by the relative countries FA and/or Uefa.

If so, can the FAs and Uefa say to any player playing in a super League team that if you leave, don't bother asking to come back? If they did, it'd be a nightmare for the players ... fine for the top ones (who'd stay with a top club entire career) but the ok ones/squad players could have nowhere to go if their super League club dropped them.

Take Lingard, could go to West Ham now. But same situation post super League and United want to release/sell a player who may have gone to West Ham, Everton, etc... they can't.

Basically Uefa, do whatever it takes to ruin it.

Any breakaway from FIFA/UEFA is a relief to see. I'd rather see a club-owned/club-run league. If it gets worse we (fans) just abandon it, that's how the market works.

Here's to hoping UEFA/FIFA crash and burn. Throw in FA too. This will be great.
This is a very strange take to say the least. Football is far more the a simple advertisement for a lot of fans. A fair share of them have at least part of their life revolving around a team. We're not talking about a phone brand you can drop to get another one, we're talking about century old clubs real people are emotionally commited to. It's not all about the damn market.

A club-run league is a terrible idea, the most powerful clubs would be able to do bend the rules to suit their agendas even more and destroy any uncertainty of the game.

I'm against this if it means we won't sign Haaland in the summer

So you think there is a plan by which a team could end up playing 40 midweek games plus 2 finals as well as a 38 game league season and cup competitions?
Ofcourse ,hoping they would clarify it.

Sky and BT under the Premier Leagues orders charging fans £15 a game during a pandemic and they have the balls to come out and criticise this.

Everybody is in it for the cash, they’re all in on the heist they just don’t like their cut.

Honestly. Every club that signed this, dock them 40 points. Do something that damages them. I don't even care at this point.

Relegate them. Us included.
Calm down. This is clearly just some type of leveraging for money and as far as the EPL goes it would be shit without us and they know it hence why they are so scared. The UEFA Media deal is entering final negotiations tomorrow, this news is timed and will get stuffed away after a new deal has been hashed out.

Totally agree. Some so called football fans are being seen for what they actually are tonight.
