Absolutely begging to come to us and yet we went for Matic on the behest of Mourinho
Well, we fecked up (again).
Wish we got him instead of Matic. Truly have no idea how we allowed Liverpool a free run at him.

Its weird mourinho never missed out on def mid and defenders in the past. He had to at united.
This is exactly why going forward we shouldn't give any manager money to spend on their own players.

Yet more evidence that fans know more about who we should sign than those in charge. If we had signed the majority of the ‘muppet’ targets we’d be a lot better off.

Transfers should be out of the managers hand. At most he should identify the positions that need upgrading. The players should be purely the clubs signings.

Fabinho would have ran through brick wall for mourinho. But mourinho has lost it I knew it since first window when he got mkh than mane.
The club were after him. It's just Mourinho preferred signing a 29 year old Matic, and as Manchester United do they backed the manager. Like idiots.

Another question is if they would show it for us. Same this summer, we can buy great players, but if we cant use them, they wont be great. Some players still stand out, but we need to get our shit together, very quickly. On the other hand, i doubt players like Van Dijk, Bernardo, Fabinho would look worse than the signings we made. They wouldnt look as good, but the quality would shine through at United as well more often than not.

Well if we had our way we would have done everything to get Klopp/Guardiola. The fans know a lot more about football than is realised.
He is built for the CL. He has the perfect level of shithousery for it.

Klopp would not come here with a blank cheque book because our fans are glory hunters that would have fired him in his 2nd season here for not winning a title.

Klopp went to Liverpool because they were an ex giant ready to have a long term project with no unnecessary pressure on his back.
Klopp won't go to Barcelona won't go to Madrid won't go to Juventus - you will see him at a club like Milan or even possibly Valencia or Atl Madrid to go to a club of peace and patience.
The fans are some of the problem here looking for instant success and until one of our own questioned the work ethic of our club would have bypassed hard workers for pure flair and nothing else - all for a quick sniff at a trophy.

Right? Been saying this for a while now, but we are just cowards against most sides. How, as a team in this age, we barely press is beyond me.
Jose has his issues but we gotta focus on Woodwards role thru it all, no? We know he vetoes names he doesn't think are big enough and has a penchant for 'snatching' players from rivals. So I'm sure he was all about Matic over Fabinhoe, even if the latter was ever on a list
Imagine what type of player Fred would be under Klopp. After all he was always selected ahead of Fabinho for the Brazil squad. Hell, most of our players would look better under Klopp
Annoyingly he's starting to settle and show what he can do.
Some of us called it, back when we were debating the merits of Fabinho vs Matic. People were laughing at us though, after Matic had a decent first season here and Fabinho struggled at the beginning.
Now Liverpool have the position sewn up for years while Matic has (as the signs were already showing) turned into a pedestrian whom we paid 40m for to have one decent season.

Mourinho just wanted to sign his mate, it was always clear who the better option was.

He probably deserves it based on form (Casemiro has been shite this season), but Tite has his favourites.
Still remember when me and many others on here were banging on about him saying we should sign him and even last summer how it's a shame we arent interested in him, yet many of those deep up Mourinho's ass hole kept criticizing us and said hes not better than Matic. Yeah fecking right. Twice the player Matic, cheaper than Matic was, and about 5 years younger. Wouldve sorted out our holding midfield role for like 7 years and we were linked endlessly for a few years. So annoyed by this one because how obvious of a signing he wouldve been for us.
I mean, it's not really that average. Mane is world class. Fabinho is world class. Alexander Arnold is the best young right back prospect in the world, Robertson is up there with the best left backs in the world, allison is a world class goalkeeper and van Dijk is probably the best center back in the world. They're team is excellently coached, but they've also built a world class squad that still puts out a really strong 11 even when 2 world class attackers are gone.
Funnily enough, Mourinho managed Fabinho at Real Madrid.
Don't forget that he could play RB too. Seemed like a no-brainer at the time.
