Bit mad judging him off that highlight video or anything else he has done since he signed.

Time will tell....from watching U23’s I think Amad, Hannibal, Shoritire are better and the likes of Galbraith, Levitt, puigmal are at least similar level and they probably won’t make it here either. Statistically you can guarantee they all won’t.

This is unfair though. If you’re wrong you won’t care about hearing ‘I told you so’ because you’ll be watching a new good player play for United. If we’re wrong we have to hear ‘I told you so’ as well as having a Facundo shaped void in our hopeful hearts. If he makes more than 50 apps for United you have to eat a worm. If he has more than 20 goal contributions you have to eat two worms.

  Deal

I dont know anything about him but I dont think we could have Sancho, Greenwood, Amad, James and Pellestri competing for the RW spot.

We have had bad luck with players on loan- either they are not rated good enough to go straight to the first team or they tend to struggle on loan and come back to reserves where they become stagnant rather than progress.

The fact that Pellestri has gone on loan and Amad has stayed in the first team gives me a little impression that Pellestri may not make here at United and we might go for Sancho as a RW.

Amad, Sancho and Greenwood being our capable RW's - two inverted wingers and 1 width holding winger.

It’s not a lack of patience on my behalf, it’s an observation. I’m looking at his level of ability, I don’t think he’s good enough to become a Manchester United player. Very few make it, tends to be either versatile players for the squad, solid defenders or extremely talented attacking players.

If I’m wrong no problem.
This is a odd take. You're looking at his ability for all of probably 5/6 games. Not to mention he's at an age where improvement year to year can be massive.

No one is saying he'll definitely make it, you're just being weirdly certain he won't based on very little than your judgement of very few observations - which no one has any idea if it's any good.

Bloody hell, he is only 19. There are so many great (established) players currently and in so many of those cases most people didn’t even know they existed when they were 19.
If he makes it at United, great, if not he is talented and young, we could always sell him. We didn’t buy him for 50 mil or something. The most important thing for now is that he gets top flight minutes which he is getting.

Yep. I am pretty certain

Yeah from everything I've seen if him I don't see the pure talent that say Amad has.

Early days but I think he'll be a squad player at best.

Getting his first start for Alaves today. Hopefully he will have a good game so he can make that RW position his for the rest of the season.

I can confirm that he was in the half of the field when it occurred, so practically an assist I'd say.

 Saw it was a direct free kick from someone else in the replay.

He had a pre assist for the 2nd goal. Beat a man as if he wasn't there, passed it out wide for the cross and it was headed in by a teammate. His dribble

Another good showing from Pellistri according to La Liga watchers. Played 65 minutes before being subbed off with Alaves leading Real Betis 2-1. Real Betis ended up winning the game 3-2.

Checked his stats and he made 3 passes. Completed them all but in 66 minutes, he made 3 passes.

In disbelief of how he could possibly only make 3 passes in 66 minutes I checked his teammates. Man Utd Garcia (whose name apparently is auto changed to Man Utd) at CM for the full 90, attempted 15 passes. Only completed 10. Their CBs attempted 14 and 16. But the kicker, Joselu at striker attempted 30. Almost twice as many as anyone else. He only completed 13 but still. Wtf kind of football are they playing?

I just looked at the stats of the game itself and like yourself I thought there was a mistake! Alaves had 29% possession and attempted less than 200 passes.. completing just 63% of those. For comparison, even Burnley regularly attempt over 400 passes a game.

That is some absolutely woeful football, he should’ve stayed here.

Stats are misleading, they just decided to drop back and play on the counter after they made 2 early goals.

Pellistri was constantly up and down the pitch, covering 7,6km in 65 minutes.

He was eager to both press and track back, but looked poor at defending, which is a bit problematic for a team fighting relegation.

Great dribbler, it's all he does, really. Needs to release the ball quicker.

Aside from the pre-assist (after dribbling past a man) he had a chance to make 3-0 via a one on one with the goalie, but couldn't slide it past.

Teammates were looking to launch him on the counter, which is a good sign. He doesn't strike me as particularly fast, just very technical.

Another start for him today. Hopefully he will be more involved and see more of the ball today as Cadiz also are on the bottom half of the table.

On the right as well. Might watch this one.

Honestly fair play to him. Instead of going to play in the weak Belgium league, he decided to move to Alaves and he is getting lots of minutes.
And instead of challenging for the Belgian title, he’s making 3 passes a game and having 29% possession a game. Fair play

This is probably the worst game of football I’ve ever seen. I thought lower Spanish sides were meant to try to play proper football? Both sides struggle to complete a pass before just launching a random long ball.

He needs to get ready for playing on the back foot.

Sad but factually very true.

Be interesting to see if statistically are we more on the back foot that last season. It definitely feels like it.

Especially from Jan onwards last season. It didn't seem this bad in terms of control.

Maybe it's just more frustrating the longer it goes on

Our average possession this season is 56% and last season it was 54%. So no we are not in backfoot all the time. In fact we attack more than many many teams. Just another myth that fans like to believe that we just sit back and defend.

I'd say its prey similar then.

It's not really a myth though. Back foot is an overexageration. Only in the big games are we on the back foot

The better description would be that we don't sustain attacks and aren't really progressing at it very much.

That's a midfield issue and a coaching issue I would say. When Pogba is out we don't have another midfielder with good passing. No one to dictate play.

It can very clearly be seen by how little chance our wingers seems to get these days. We don't get them involved in the right areas enough imo.

Even in the big games we rarely are on back foot all the times. Against city, yes but we went toe to toe with Chelsea, dominated possession against Arsenal at emirates, even against Liverpool we pressed them and we should have won that game.

Surprised you're watching that game instead of the U18s, it's a goal fest at the moment.

I didn't say at all times. But we very clearly set up to counter in those games. Worked for us last season not so much this season.

Chelsea we are less afraid of so to speak and rightly so.

Ah, not all possession stats are equal. Our tempo with the ball is lower than other top sides when not in counter offensive transition, and so we tend to often pass back to the CB's and shift the ball from side to side within our own half. This contributes to the possession statistic inflating because the opposition are quite happy to let us pass within our own half.

Nah I’m watching the u18s, just popped this on for 15 minutes at half time. It didn’t make a good case to change which I was watching.
Yeah, sounds awful to be fair, I tried watching for 10 minutes when Pellistri got his first or second sub appearance and I think they only got the ball out of their half 4 times.

Waste of time playing at Alaves. I hated watching that game. Pellistri played on the left and the right at different times, yet the team were determined to long ball it repeatedly, consequently the ball never settled into any kind of rhythm for him to get on the ball and get many touches. Alaves did end up with 52% possession, but don't be fooled. The other team were long-balling it back too, and so the game was just.......meh.

Not a good match for Facundo. There are small teams that at least try to play good football; this isn't one of them.

Got 90 mins today against Atletico Madrid. Had 2 shots, one off-target, the other saved. 4 dribbles out of 5 attempts, dispossessed 3 times, low pass completion 55%. won 1 tackle out of 4 attempts, 1 interception, won 1 out of 3 aerials.

Alaves lost 0-1. Joselu had a late penalty saved.

I'm surprised by how much playing time he's getting. He's got something, doesn't appear scared by the physicality of La Liga, likes to dribble.

I suspect that there will be plenty of teams wanting to take him on loan next season.
