The demeanour of this thread is going the opposite as my own

I had almost thrown in the towel a couple of weeks ago when everyone here still seemed to think he was coming

Now I’m getting confident and everyone else seems to be readying their noose

Barca are the one creating the contracts, so how can it be void and the players at fault? They never engaged in to have a new contract, they were engaged by Barca to help the club at the time.

I’m no lawyer but this is certainly a bunch of nonsense and would take a lot of time in court to sort out.
They can't. It's a bunch of BS from brainwashed Barca loons.

Whatever nonsense is going on there at Barca, and there is a lot, I really do not see FDJ joining us.

We’ve been completely played in this drama and we’ve now screwed up our whole recruitment policy because of it. No player is worth the chaos that this has caused. We could have purchased others that would have made the whole better than the sum of the existing parts. I dearly wanted us to sign Frenkie but this whole sideshow has completely screwed us. We really need Erik to get over this love in and sign someone else, while not being what Frenkie is, surely would be better than that tosh served up last Sunday.

All this drama aside, say in the real off chance that we do pull this off and Frenkie comes to Utd, he is going to be under the biggest pressure imaginable as he will have to immediately justify Ten Hag's persistence. There are a litany of options that could have improved our midfield but for a long time it has seemed that Frenkie was the only one in Ten Hag's eyes.

Not saying he couldn't handle the pressure and perform, but the pressure would be absolutely enormous.

I look forward to never seeing a tweet from "Managing Barca" again. An aggregator that twists the source and peddles bollocks.

I am a lawyer, and it makes no sense. We don't have all the facts though.

It's interesting, Mitten has made me feel positive but all these new links are making me feel the opposite.

Id be really happy with Frenkie and Rabiot pairing though.

The guy second from right looks like Lionel Messi if he was a downtrodden banker working 70 hours a week and coming home to Pot Noodle every night.
Looks like what would split off from Messi if you could exorcise his tax evasion demon

I'm not a Spanish football lawyer or anything but would it be possible, say if the transfer fee is 80M and De Jong is owed 10M, can't Barcelona accept 70m and United pay the 10M to De Jong as a signing on fee?

Or would that be fraud?

If all parties agree then won't be fraud (material misrepresentation or concealment of fact). Never gonna happen though.

Who has adjudicated the validity of these contracts? Sounds like Barca is putting some PR out there to put even more pressure on FDJ and others, to get the feck out of their club.
Exactly this. The tweet is industrial strength bullcrap. Can you imagine the shitstorm if FCB decided not to pay the players because they deemed the contracts invalid? Someone, either the twitter handler or whoever at club is feeding them this, is seriously demented. I almost wish they try to go through with this tactic just to see the carnage.

Completely agree. Even after Ornstein’s article earlier, they were twisting it. Missing out the part about them taking their own player to court and just tweeting parts of sentences

The thing is, Champions League shouldn't be a decider. It's a season by season thing, theres nothing saying that Chelsea won't have a shitty season and finish 5th, whilst United actually get their crap together and finish 3rd. I think there will be a lot more to it than just CL in all honesty
Thinking this doesn't make it true. Players are undeniably and invariably attracted to Champions League football. What's more, it's painfully clear that, as things stand, we are much less likely than Chelsea to securing Champions League football. They won it two years ago and had a goal difference like 40 goals greater than ours last season ffs. Ofcourse it's not the only thing, but IMO you are taking a giant leap of faith that Champions League shouldn't be a decider simply because you prefer it isn't.

Eriksen probably, but he sees Chelsea as the bigger club anyway, so I’m sure he has Mason Mount posters on his bedroom wall :wenger:
Mount s cl final pass to havertz probably made him to dream about joining chelsea.

Chelsea are in ch lge now we aint. The rest is all speculative. Theres more chance of Chelsea being in top 4 than us end of the season as it stands. FDJ is guaranteed ch lge at Chelsea at the moment, were flying on a wing and a prayer for next season.

From being owed 17m in unpaid wages to owing Barcelona for invalid contracts. Man, FDJ bro I did tell you to get out of there sharpish
Just when you think this story can’t get any more wild, this happens. Barcelona play the old reverse card. You want your unpaid wages? How about you pay us back everything we ever paid you

Is it correct that De Jong is on £470.000 per week at Barca? I know that there's some ifs and buts about his actual salary and bonuses etc, but £470.000 per week is at least what Capology is stating. Are we actually prepared to offer such a silly salary on top of the high transfer fee?? If so we will be paying him a higher salary than Ronaldo this season.. It's like we never learn it feels.

The whole world knows who he wants
The issue now is that we have no other back up options, because our scouting system is non existent. Well run clubs will have lists of players for each position, we’re scraping after one who doesn’t even want to come and end up signing either a shite panic buy or putting up with what we’ve got.

Have to get another midfielder on top of Rabiot! Plus a striker.

Barcas logic is that the previous president has nothing to do with the current Barcelona - and hence his agreements should not be valid.
I'm a big fan if this logic if it means we can do likewise with our previous CEO. Juve can pay back the £89m we "fraudulently" spunked on Pogba for a start.

You know whats coming next don't you?

Barca: "Now Frenkie, it appears your contract is invalid and you need to return your salary to us... however, if you would like to leave the club, we will call the case closed and no one will have to pay anything to anyone. How does that sound to you?"

Frenkie: "I'm not leaving..... I'M NOT FECKING LEAVING!"

Absurd saga. We should stay clear. Barca would sue plus two years down the line after signing FdJ.

Quite frankly I'm concerned that if FDJ is forced to leave he'll be massively demoralised and lose a step to his game. I hope that whatever happens, he doesn't (unless he's playing against us).
