Think they finish Tuesday, It’s bad that we have to wait until there done with internationals… didn’t stop city signing haaland straight away. That was even before internationals started. Even Liverpool with Nunez, they pulled him out of one of there games to get a deal done… why can we never do this.
Haaland deal is because of the clause. Man City doesn't need to work with Dortmund to sign Haaland. The clause in contract enables legal path to do so.

I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be a quiet day for this saga and there will be no posts on this thread for a huge portion of the day

You just know that the moment cafe goes down it's gonna get announced

Maybe we should just nuke the site entirely.

De Jong has been ‘close’ for three weeks now. It won’t happen unless the Board get their fingers out. Seven weeks until kick off.

It's like everytime there's positive exciting news of a rival like Liverpool or City actually signing players we get journalists on Twitter (briefed by the club?) rushing to calm Manchester United fans by saying De Jong or another player is close to signing etc it's so predictable. It's like they are thinking Manchester United fans are going crazy and losing the rag over the lack of transfer activity and all the news other clubs signing players and rival fans celebrating.

despite journalists saying it's close for weeks and there seems no movement from either side to compromise on the transfer fee + add ons. How long does it take to structure a deal so all sides can claim a win!?

De Jong is the most boring transfer saga ever. Compare it to other transfer sagas it's not even exciting.. hence there's not many pages on this one. Nothing is happening.. I'm sure behind the scenes things are going on to try to get this one over the line but perception is reality and we need action.

Nothing is happening because of the internationals. At the very earliest we are going to get a more definitive update on Tuesday-Wednesday (positive or negative).

i'm not sure why folks thought we'd sign him during a tournament.

Nunez playing for Uraguay, Tchouameni playing for France... nothing is happening because of internationals... ok

Well forums are old school these days anyway.. It's all about instant Twitter and social media  I'm sure we will survive.

Two players that wanted to leave the clubs. Two players that you would say that have been over paid for.

If we offered Barca 100m, the deal would be done.

Situation slightly more complicated dealing with Barcelona. No disrespect to Monaco or Benfica, but they’re selling clubs, plus the players themselves it is a big step up for, so no real deliberation needed on their part.

Nowhere near a like for like comparison.

Less than ideal given their financial situation...

Well like it or not for them, Barca are a selling club now. The market knows they have financial stresses so they just don’t have the bargaining power that they ordinarily would. I know we’re all giddy to get a deal closed but there’s good reason for United to draw it out and turn the screw on Barca

Not gonna lie, he's an exciting player.

Even if he doesn't solve your midfield problems this season, one gets the sense that will be more to do with the deficiencies around him. He's one to build around.

Nunez was dropped by Uruguay to get the deal done, a quick scan of the Tchouameni thread has the deal "agreed" by journo sources on the eve of the first French game and announced by the 11th.

Considering De Jong also doesn't want to leave Barca, it's very logical to suggest that the internationals are slowing it down. He has no idea if Barca can get the cash, he doesn't want to leave, and likely doesn't want to get dropped by LVG.

The way I see it too, won't solve all our problems but will certainly be a good start. Absolutely need a second one.

It's okay guys, the delay in completing this signing will be worth it when the social media channels get more traction than City and Liverpool do for their big signings this week.

Of course a €100m signing is a big transfer, no matter what way you look at it. Liverpool won't spend any more on a player this window.
