Definitely. Very clumsy by Davies but he clearly fouls Hofmann.

Colina‘s Erben regarding the incident: „Also ein Kontakt war klar vorhanden. Reicht der für einen Elfmeter? Eher nicht. Reicht es für eine klare Fehlentscheidung und den Eingriff des VAR? Definitiv nicht.“

Translation: So there was clearly contact. Is that enough for a penalty? Probably not. Is it enough for a clear wrong decision and the intervention of the VAR? Definitely not.

That is not really strange though. If I had to choose who wins the league between Dortmund and Leverkusen, I‘d choose Dortmund as well.

No. Then I would prefer Leverkusen. But even Dortmund is probably better than Leipzig.

But I do not think that Leverkusen can keep up their form all season. You cannot expect a 20 year old to be in form a full season. And Xhaka etc. will not be injury free the whole season either.

But the Bundesliga conference today is fun again. A lot of goals...

Dortmund  :wenger:

They really need to get their act together or they will find themselves battling with the DFB who will become next manager for both teams...

Yeah but you have won the title 10 y

Davies drags Hofmann's leg away. I don't get how that is not enough or how one can think that Hofmann fell intentionally. He shields the ball and Davirs runs through him. No hard foul, just clumsy from Davies.

After Freiburg took a few more risks Dortmund's build up just collapsed into long balls, apparently without proper set up for second balls.
The pressing is also neither here nor there, always leaving some avenue of relief for the opposition.

Problems being visible to this extend is a question of organization rather than individual quality, so I think it's inevitable that Terzic will be under a lot of pressure now and I think more than anything the risk will be that Watzke won't act, if Terzic can't find the answers.

Who can even dare to dream of stopping this Dortmund side?

Why does Terzic play Schlotterbeck and not Süle?
They might be on the verge of realising why getting Süle might not have been the gigantic steal they thought it was.

Malen and Simons lighting things up again I see.

Today was a good game for Malen in the "prove you can have an impact, even if the team isn't playing well" category. Mind you against Heidenheim he probably missed/ruined what felt like 2 xG worth of chances, so it can go both ways for him

Weirdly he still mostly just runs fast and misses sitters for Oranje.

See my edit. I think he's still hugely reliant on feeling well. So I'm expecting United to bid for him any moment.

Ah, yes that sounds more like him. He did play well the game against Ireland and created the 2 chances single handedly with his pace, but it's still the finishing that's mostly a bit cack with him.

Simons was Rubbish however for Holland. Forcing the issue it seems, though understandable since our entire nation is looking at him to singlehandedly succeed Cruyff, Gullit, Van Basten, Robben en Sneijder.

This is probably part of having to feel good I think.

For Dortmund his finishing is fairly decent: goals and expected goals matching up. If I remember correctly player portraits actually praised his finishing for overperforming xG, while he was at PSV.

I have a good feeling about Schalke vs Magdeburg.

Did Gnaka just score the same goal twice? I wouldn't be surprised if the shot vectors were identical.

edit:
okay, close, but not quite:

Heidenheim on their way to their first ever Bundesliga win. Pretty amazing for them.

So despite yet another new coach and almost changing their entire starting XI Gladbach are back to getting hammered by random teams, huh?

Did anybody expect them to be any good this season? I honestly hadn't heard anything about Wöber, Cvancara, Honorat or Ngoumou before this season and the rest of their line up is mediocre anyway. Were they rated highly?

Because personally, I couldn't tell if Gladbach's starting eleven is significantly better than Heidenheim or Darmstadt simply going by the names

There's being good, there's being mediocre and there's getting hammered 0:3 at half time by a newly promoted side.

That's definitely bad but the team is still an unknown quantity, IMO. Few of them have really proven themselves in a top 4 league.

Seoane is also not really good at grinding out results against weak opponents. His style of football requires space inbehind and Darmstadt doesn't offer too much of that.

It's just unfortunate that Magdeburg are reduced to 10 men, otherwise I could see them equalize again. But it has been a fun game regardless.

There was some fun games today - sometim

Wöber I know from matches against Ajax and Salzburg! And I have read the name with the Austrian team

*sigh* looks like Nagelsmann really takes over the DFB team. Another tournament to come that I won't care about and expect nothing...

I crossed my fingers for van Gaal, I think he would've been great for us

The narrow minded guys in charge of the DFB would never hire a strong personality like van Gaal.

Just look at the disaster they caused by hiring the controversial populist A. Rettig. You really have to put some effort into finding a worse appointment for this position.

By losing Eberl, they were bound to fade into obscurity unless a miracle happened. Hasn't yet.

Eberl is the one, who thew them into turmoil, by holding together a dysfunctional squad at the expense of getting any transfer fees for half the squad.

I mean, I'm all for possession football but van Gaal is a dinosaur with a pathological ego. I don't see how this could have worked out.

Not a huge Nagelsmann fan either but there are no better options available, IMO. And the DFB can't wait until the summer break.

Dont think its possible for Nagelsmann to implement any complex tactical variations or system changes now. Its hard to do on national team level anyway since the team is only together for a week or two every few months and now its only 9 months since the Euros are starting. Just not enough time. Thats why the DFB shouldve brought in someone who has the personality, charisma and authority to bring the nation and the team behind him and just ride a wave of euphoria into the tournament. Just try to build on the little bit of good mood that came after the France game. Thats more important now than any tactical masterminds like Nagelsmann supposedly is. For those reasons I wouldve loved Van Gaal. Nagelsmann really doesnt strike you like the kind of guy you want to root for.

Exactly... I'd rather even see Sandro Wagner in that role then Nagelsmann...

I think there is some merit to the 'just vibe' argument, but it's not like Nagelsmann will start from zero entirely, he's already coached the Bayern players and I think the tactical base level at top clubs is quite high these days, so I don't think he's in any way hopeless.

Is this genius or desperation by Terzic, I can't tell. Also to start the season with 3 CBs and then play a back 3 in the first big game... sounds ambitious...
