Haha... misread. I thought the title was the Greatest Living American Dictator. And wondering why the question and the obvious answer.

Trump obviously.

Haven’t seen him mentioned but John Carpenter has to be in with a shout. Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween, The Fog, Escape from New York, The Thing, Christine, Starman, Big Trouble in Little China, Prince of Darkness, They Live.
  • Pretty much created the modern horror film with Halloween.
  • The Thing is maybe the greatest horror film of all time.
  • They Live is the best satire on and unironically includes the greatest fight scene in cinema
  • Best director for making synth bangers.
My childhood (And adult) hero and still one of my favourite directors.

Guys like him and John Sayles always overlooked, but their body of work is hugely impressive.

It's probably Scorsese but I'll take the Coen Brothers in a two for one ahead of Marty thanks.

Steven Spielberg and it's not particularly close is it. Jaws, E.T., Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, Schindler's list, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Indiana Jones.....even the midrange films he did like War of the Worlds 2005 are fearsomely well directed films in their own right.

It’s a great piece of propaganda but a part from the opening scene it’s a pretty mid WW2 war film.
