Which is a better shot technique?

There's something explosive about a shot hit like a rocket that the keeper can't stop. However, the finesse shot is far more cultured.

Rocket shot specialists: Adriano, C. Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos

Conisseurs of finesse: Thierry Henry, David Beckham

Not being bias but Rashford should be in the rocket shot specialists

I came into this thread expecting an entirely different topic of conversation.

It's always worth smashing the ball if you can get it on target often enough. Keeper might be caught off guard or might just end up parrying it for an easy rebound.

One thing that has disappointed me about Pogba's return here. He's stopped putting his foot through the ball now and goes for accuracy a lot more.

I love seeing a curler into the top corner but there is something about the noise of a thundertwat hitting the back of the net and rippling it that makes me a wee bit horny.

Scott McTominay against Wolves and Arsenal was a hard shot whilst the Mata goal against Liverpool (volley at Anfield) and Juventus (Freekick) was finesse. To be perfectly honest with you, technically I’d prefer someone with finesse than power. You’d more often than not see someone caress the ball into the net than someone whacking it into the goal.

He definitely can. He's more well known for curling it into the net or his delicate chips but he can most definitely whack it when it needs to be.
Even when he curls it, he can still blast it. He just has a great technique that makes his strikes look effortless.

Harry Kane is the perfect example of that. He twats the ball as hard as he can every fecking time and that’s why he scores so many goals

You have to alternate between either. Only relying on method gets boring quickly and they'll not come again. But mixing it up and being unpredictable will make them come again plenty of times, and it will be mutually more enjoyable.

As long as the ball ends up in the back of the net, it shouldn't matter. Look at Ruud'd example- He would be 6 yards out but would still shoot with all his might just to ensure that no one has any chance of saving that. But I'd agree that finesse shots look more classy

I thought this was about something else entirely. Shit thread. Just clickbate. 2 out of ten stars.

I never saw anything more beautiful in the game than a curled free kick from Beckham. Most of the time keepers knew what he was doing as well.

This fella had a right old fecktwinkle of a strike on him

@Gio
Yeah, one of the best and purest thunderblasters around. He could bend it with pace occasionally as well, there’s a humdinger of a free kick against Hibs in there.

Batistuta would be the quintessential power finisher for me. Plenty of times he could have passed it into the corner, but he invariably hammered it as hard as he could, irrespective of distance or angle.

Yes! he just drilled it in mercilessly. His penalties were ferocious.

Nothing beats a good thunder bastard really does it? all these fancy curling shots are nice, but give me a shot that would take the keepers arm off if he tried to save it, i'll be happy.
