Ronaldo only wanted Madrid. Vastly different circumstances and you know it.
But how does that have impact on accepting bids?

Levy or Spurs are under no obligation to accept same bid as the one Bayern made. I'm sure you also know this and prices are ofcourse different for different clubs.

Wait people are seriously thinking we need to go and bid 100m on a 30 year old Kane? You out of your mind? That's not what a smart club who is still transitioning does. That's when you are fully developed, playing at a high and consistent level but just 1 CF away from potentially winning it all - like City were pre haaland.
Going to be very controversial with this but:
Onana
Pavard* Varane Martinez Shaw
Casemiro
Mount Bruno
Antony Kane Rashford

That could win the league no?

We need more than one striker at the club mate.
Of course but you’re living in cuckoo land if you think we’re spending £180m on 2 strikers when one of them is going to be benched.

No club has ever spent £72m on a player with the intention of him being a sub.

If we don’t match the bid, and use the similar amounts of £ on Amrabat & Pavard we are beyond stupid.

That's irrelevant because Ronaldo wouldn't have been remotely interested in them. If there was a bid from United and Bayern on the table then he would choose us IMO.
No chance. Ronaldo would have gone for the team more likely to win the CL. It's why he threw a strop to leave last summer after we missed out.

Where all these fresh “we must bid for Kane” talks come from? We obviously don’t need a player in his 30s and in the last year of his contract for 100m
Exactly, he'd be a waste of money at this stage. 2/3 years ago he was worth it. But, 100m now when he has 1 year left on his deal, no chance.

He really screwed himself over by signing that big deal at Spurs. Forget about legacy, a player of his talents should have been playing his peak years in a side capable of winning big trophies. He was never doing that at Spurs.

So he is bayerns for 100 mil. So you’re adding another 20mil PL tax on top of that. Plus we have signed hojlund. Too good to be true unfortunately.

Does Kane really want that dumb scoring record of Shearer’s? Because I’d take a shot at winning stuff rather than going after some record every day of the week. At least Bayern have a shot at winning the CL most years, regardless of whether they sleepwalk into German domestic honours.

I would happily sacrifice some of next years transfer kitty to match their bid, however let's face it Levy rejects it anyway and Kane isn’t willing to tell him he only wants Utd move. IF we got any encouragement from his camp then wouldn’t have ended interest at start of June.

Should stay at Spurs and go wherever he wants next summer in my opinion.

They explained already if you look again.
I’ve looked it’s BS.

@roonster09

As Harry Kane’s advisor you cannot contact me to say you have approved a bid from Bayern for X amount and then you get contact from Manchester United saying they will match the bid for LEVY to turn round and reject it.

What happens then is Kane’s representatives say he prefers to stay in England and play for Manchester United. Levy cannot just say no. We did the same thing with Beckham and Barcelona.

The only thing that can alternatively happen is for Levy to agree to negotiate with us but even then we aren’t going to pay over the odds.

Hes done that just now by accepting a fee from Bayern, coupled with some credible reporting thst hes under some pressure to bring funds in for Kane internally.
Yes and I'd assume it's an offer he's happy with.

Re this pressure, there was an article saying Joe Lewis has told him he wants Kane either sold or on a new contract. People totally misinterpreted that as though Joe Lewis is his boss. Levy owns 30% of the club, they are partners. They have also worked together for a long, long time. It's not some ultimatum.

That's just where the current fees are in football now. £60 million is now the new 30/40 million.
And even now it’s never been done. No one has spent that much for a sub.

You’re in for a big shock when you see Utd make absolutely no approach for Kane. Some of you better get the tissues ready.

Kane needs 48 goals to break Alan Shearer's record of 260 Premier League goals, achievable with two more seasons. Honestly, the all-time Premier League goal scorer probably will be more memorable in 20 years than the Bundesliga in 2023.

Time to emulate another Spurs hero. Teddy Sheringham joined United, got himself some wonderful memories and a lovely set of Premier League titles to show the grandchildren. Do yourself a favour Harry... ignore Bayern and join United.

Here is where the money coming from

Maguire £30m
Mctominay £30m
Henderson £15m
VDB £15m
Fred £10m
Bailly £1m
Martial £5m

In any case, it will be interesting to see who Kane is playing for next season.
So you're selling Maguire, McTominay, VDB & Fred with no replacements in their positions? That'll go well :houllier:

I'd say we'd be the favorites for the second with a slight chance fluking in a win.

Pretty decent all around.

As a club we aren't ready to win the league. It takes time to implement the system. Time on the training pitch. Time to bed players in. Time for the manager to adapt to iron out issues. We have a better shot at winning the CL than the league. City with their squad, resources and Pep who is up there with the very best managers of all time have such a hold on this league that while yes, we can win it (now or if Kane comes), it's highly unrealistic this season anyway to jump 20 points. And 20 points likely won't even be enough. We outperformed our xPts by about 10 anyway, and making the jump from a top 4 team to a title challengers to actually winning it are all massive jumps. It's a year too soon to think about the title.

And in terms of system, Kane in and we are overly reliant on Rashford for any pace in behind still. He's not quite a perfect fit. And he drops back more and more, would that mesh with Bruno? He doesn't hold the line up front like what we want from our #9, he doesn't offer any threat in behind. That's not to say he isn't world class, but just that it isn't a perfect fit and his age and injury history are obvious causes for concern where a decline might not be far away, in addition to the age profile just being a bit too old where he might start declining by the time we're actually ready to properly challenge. At a price yeah, do it. At 100m, in our state, would be idiotic.

Not singing Amrabat & Pavard/Todibo to replace the outgoing players and instead buying Harry Kane would be the stupid thing to do...

Then Levy will just say for PL clubs the price is different and it's not something unexpected either. Spurs and ManUtd rivals, ofcourse it takes bigger bid.
