Title's gone with this manager !!
You mean except for last year under Ole when I seem to remember we were very poor and limped over the lineUnited always finish the season strongly and with such a rich squad, anything can happen.
Exactly. If it was Roy Hodgson in charge and he had exactly the same record, tactics etc as Ole 100% of the fan base would be calling for his head. Sentimentality goes a long way it seems.Honestly gobsmacked there are people on this thread who are still finding excuses to keep him on board. This ain’t Ole FC, stop pretending he’s your mate who you’re willing to give a bit more leeway for underperforming.
Let’s see how many points off 1st we are come Christmas, I’ll bet it’ll be a lot more than 2.Seven games in, two points off 1st, we obviously can't challenge?
The difference is we had the easiest run. Context mattersWe will be no more than 3 points off top regardless of how City V Liverpool goes but hey let's write off the season!
City had less points at this stage last season wonder what happened to them in the end.
Is a good chance we'll be off 1st by more than two points by ChristmasLet’s see how many points off 1st we are come Christmas, I’ll bet it’ll be a lot more than 2.
And the 18/19 season where we bombed out of both cups to Barcelona and Wolverhampton and fell short of the 3 London teams to finish 6th.You mean except for last year under Ole when I seem to remember we were very poor and limped over the line
Some of our fans after matchday 5: we are still joint top of the league! We will be no more than 3 points off top regardless of how City V Liverpool goes but hey let's write off the season!

Sure. But I'm pretty sure that we will not win many of those games eitherSure. But it's not obvious we will lose any of those games
They have Pep. We have Ole.We will be no more than 3 points off top regardless of how City V Liverpool goes but hey let's write off the season!

It's obviously a possibility that we might not win many of those gamesSure. But I'm pretty sure that we will not win many of those games either
If we end up in the EL, I don't believe we can win the EL.No, but we’ll finally be able to give CR7 that EL trophy he lacks
That's the crux of the issue isn't it?It's obviously a possibility that we might not win many of those games
This is a myth. No evidence we're consistently and reliably better in 2nd half of the season than the 1st, it varies year to year, as you'd expect.United always finish the season strongly and with such a rich squad, anything can happen.
We are better in big games because we actually have a more than decent defence and a keeper. Especially when we are under the cosh. Our Fbs do not go wandering upfield and leave space open behind. Our midfield does not need to pass as they are only defending and we have two quick wingers in Rashford and Greenwood. So when they all push and we get a turnover Rashford and Greenwood are unstoppable and they have either created or scored. But we can only play if other teams leave space behind their defence. Other teams have found that out and now they do not leave those space behind their defence. This is why we struggle. We do not how to break down teams who do not leave space. As people keep pointing out we're generally better in the big games, so to be only two points off the top after a run of games we usually slip up in is a good position.
Again, look at the mini-table of top 6 playing each other to debunk this myth.As people keep pointing out we're generally better in the big games, so to be only two points off the top after a run of games we usually slip up in is a good position.
And after every season, they'll argue we should start from scratch and dismiss every criticism at the start of the season as being "too early".Some of our fans after matchday 5: we are still joint top of the league!
After matchday 7: only 3 points off top, still doing great!
After matchday 10: 7 points off top but it's all good, still only October, lot's of time to recover.
Matchday 20: next year is surely our year. With a new midfielder this team will be flying with Ole in charge!
Rinse and repeat.
This list of fixtures with Champions League in between will decide if we are still there with a challenge by Christmas. If we get good results and we are still there, we need to address the midfield area for the second half challenge or we will be fighting for 4th place. We have played easy opposition.

Err...look at the results last seasonUnited always finish the season strongly and with such a rich squad, anything can happen.
Is this a joke?Backing Brighton to pip us to top 4. We’ll fight for Europa League places with Spurs Arsenal Leicester and Brentford.
Oh come on now. Brighton aren't going to finish ahead of us. If they do, it's pretty much time to just disband the club and give up on this football thingie. But they won't because this Potter isn't a fecking wizard, just a good manager.Backing Brighton to pip us to top 4. We’ll fight for Europa League places with Spurs Arsenal Leicester and Brentford.

Nah I wasn’t being entirely serious. But I don’t think top 4 is a certainty for us at all, even though so far I don’t particularly see any strong challengers for the position either.Oh come on now. Nah, him not being good enough is what will get him fired.I'm still baffled by the use of Mckenna and Carrick as the main coaches of the team.
It's been known for a while now that Ole does little to no coaching and leaves the coaching of attacking and defensive plays to his coaches. Obviously it's still the managers fault as this is the choice he's made. He's copying exactly what Ferguson did in every facet of his own coaching style. Whilst this works fantastically well for his media interviews (e.g protecting players no matter what) and his man management of players and instilling a team atmosphere.
It will eventually cost him his job. Under SAF we had some of the best coaches in world football and who were often at the cutting edge of training procedures.
With Carrick we have an ex player, who is learning on the job - which is frankly unacceptable at a club our size trying to get back to the top, Mckenna who is nothing more than a promising youth coach and Mike phelan, who oversaw some of our worst football in the final years of SAF and who wasn't exactly having his door knocked down as sporting director of central coast marriners (who? exactly).
People like to say "whos' to say these guys aren't great coaches?" but i think we have the proof with every passing game. We more often than not look like a team of individuals waiting for something to happen rather than an expertly coached attacking unit. We will never, ever challenge for the title with this coaching setup. I'm convinced now more than ever.
I agree with that. We may not have the best starting 11, but we do have a squad with enough match winners to seriously challenge for the PL.With the players we have it really only takes a few to suddenly have outstanding form to create a title winning run . Our poor performances haven't cost us too badly so far.
Our squad is good enough that there's a chance of teams slipping and us winning irrespective of improvements from Ole.
