Moses being an important player in the Chelsea title win two seasons ago. A season of quality that was far in excess of anything before, since or ever will have.

Welbz - scoring vs Real.
Lindegaard - after the City-game. Danish media was talking about it for weeks, it felt.
The entire Leicester squad bar Kante.

I know a journalist who voted for him to win the football writers player of the year award. The reason being because Parker was always open to interviews.

Oscar scoring two goals, including a wonder goal, against Juve on his debut for Chelsea. Took years for people to cotton on that he was bang average.

Jerzy Dudek with a miracle a save in extra time and then being the hero in the shootout of the 2005 Champions League final.

Kieran Trippier nailing a free kick in the first few minutes of a World Cup semi could end up being one. He seems to have regressed back to his “normal” level this season.

Shane Long’s winning goal against Germany.

David Healey’s Euro 2008 qualifying campaign.

Somen Tchoyi scoring a hat trick against Newcastle. Had 6 goals total in the Premier League that season 2010/11. Scored one against United too.

The season when James Beattie challenged RVN and Henry for the top scorer award. Scored several ridiculous long ranged shots that season.

Denis Cheryshev at 2018 world cup. Mediocre a bit harsh maybe, as he can be a good player on the very rare occasions he has a run of being fit, but his career has certainly been mediocre.

Trevor Sinclair - Sven's answer to the left side problem, plays every game at the World Cup

Trevor Sinclair - scores goal of the season

Trevor Sinclair anyway

Carlton Palmer - me thinking he was quite good when I saw him playing for West Brom

Harsh. Finished 2nd in Serie A goalscoring 3 times. Not a complete one season wonder.
He wasn't a one season wonder, but that one season was far, far beyond any other season in terms of overall achievement. All of his career honours are between 2009 and 2011, except a league title in Argentina at the start and end of his career.

Had a good goal scoring record in Spain too. He was a little bit better than mediocre, but never particularly a great player IMO. Just a pretty good one. he spent the majority of his career paying in mid-table, and got relegated twice.

Ruben Schaken scoring Holland's 1500th official goal.

Most of Dirk Kuyt's career.

But by far the biggest that ever will be, Angelos Charisteas scoring the winning goal in the Euros.

Oh and you lot signing Alexander fecking Buttner

Did you see his debut? Stepovers in his own final third ffs. A goal and assist too. The boy was magic.

He was actually genuinely very good in the first leg vs Bayern in 2014. Probably the only game where he didn't do something mental. That one game was his absolute peak.

David Ngog's goal against Man Utd to seal a 2-0 win that ended a bad run of form.

Andrea Dossena scoring against Real Madrid and Man Utd in the same week.

Afonso Alves - completely incapable of scoring ... except for hat-tricks against Manchester clubs.

David Bellion, who had a running (pun intended) joke on here which has basically "man, he was quick though". Was utterly terrible at football but there was a season for us where all our other strikers were out injured at the start, and he seemed to score a load (although I suspect memory is inflating the stats).

Paul Warhurst, he was a defender for Sheffield Wednesday. They had injuries to Hirst and Bright so they put him upfront and scored 12 goals in 12 games, got called up for England but got injured so didn't make an appearance to get a cap, and never replicated that form upfront again.

The stil hope for Phil Jones.. ..

David Odonkor:
After being Klinsmann's/Löw's surprise pick for the WC06 squad his stoppage time assist against Poland made him a national hero for the moment.
After the tournament Betis bought him for a relatively high fee, but over the five years of his contract he barely played and only scored three goals. For a while his name was the synonym for pace merchant in Germany.

Sergio Goycochea - Italia 90 (started tournament as backup keeper, became penalty shootout hero in the QF's and semi's).

Juliano Belletti - Scoring the winner for Barcelona in CL final 06.

Stéphane Guivarc'h - Starting striker in WC final for France and becoming world champion in 98 (had nowhere near the career of the other starters).
