I unlocked lmperio and added Imperio mastery in skill points, I just imperio folk and then hide for a bit and then go back and hit someone else all the baddies just kill each other and I don't have to be mithered with any of it.

I never watched or read Harry Potter but I am desperate for a good open world game. Is this worth it?

Personally I would say no, I thoroughly enjoyed it but it was definitely propped up by me being a Harry Potter fan, the actual open world activities aren’t amazing and even the main story is average.

For me it’s good not great and if I wasn’t a HP fan I think I’d wait until the price has dropped given its a single player game

I Echo this (apart from the HP fan bit, not that I dislike HP but I've never read the books and only watched the films for the sake of the Mrs).

It's a bit frustrating as you can see where it could go from here, but this game isn't really making the most of either the setting (apart from Hogwarts of course, which I maintain should have been the whole game plus the odd detour to Hogsmeade) nor the gameplay elements. It's decent enough, and a solid base, but overall lacks real depth to any aspect.

Having said that @devilish it does depend on what you look for in an OW game. If it's running around doing missions as a time killer and something casual to drop in and out of, then this works for that.

I got bored of this game pretty quickly; I just can't be bothered to play it. Haven't touched it in three weeks now and didn't make much progress through the campaign.

I'm not much of a fan of Harry Potter, but Hogwarts was quite fun to see in the game. The problem is that the quests are pretty dull and everything feels like side quests.

It isn't a bad game, and works well, but I just don't find it fun.

I kind of agree with this. I've not quite finished it but overall have been pleased with the game. Being a big Harry potter fan helped, if I wasn't would have gotten tired pretty quickly. I think the combat is pretty ace actually and they can build on that more, add some more enemy variety and challenge definitely. The main plot and side quests are all pretty vanilla and dull. They could have done a lot more with that. I just skip most of the dialogue. They could have done some really cool stuff with the unforgivable curses or given you options that really affected characters and the story but none of that happened.

I am not big Harry Potter fan but I am really enjoying the world and exploration, puzzles etc, I really do. So I would say it is worth it.

I feel like the open world is the worst part of the game. I'm surprised many people that aren't Harry Potter fans like the game. Inside of Hogwarts is the best of of the game by far. I think most people that are fans of the IP will enjoy that part of the game. A lot of what you see in there probably isn't as good if you're not a fan.

Does that broom shop owner piss anyone else off? I hate his voice and I want to crucio him

Peeves can fecking do one too. Annoying prick
I hate Peeves but my biggest rage is saved for that woman who's in the Floo network and comments each time you use the thing. Stfu!

My OH hates Deek (and calls him a less than flattering version) telling him each time that he should be proud of the potions he's brewed

I'm trying to complete areas as I go so it's not such a grind at the end but some of the chests and field guides are so difficult as the world is so big

The graphics and scenery is fantastic but I'm also finding the main story isn't really capturing me that much feels very rinse and repeat about a not very engaging subject I much prefer

Sebastian's story

Got this for the PC last weekend. I'm a fairly big HP fan having read all the books growing up as they came out and all the films.

On a decent PC and monitor, the visuals of the Castle, surrounding grounds etc are amazing. The novelty of this wears off fairly quickly though. The main storyline is just OK, bit random that i've been to 2 classes since starting my 5th year and I'm already fighting a 50ft Penseive Guardian...like wtf.

The field guide is fiddly and difficult to navigate. It took me 12+hrs of gameplay to realise my character didn't have to look like a fecking idiot with stupid hats, glasses and robes in order to keep their defensive and offensive buffs. You can equip them, but then 'change your appearance' to look like a normal student but with the same stats.

The side missions seem a bit repetitive, everyone is lazy as feck and you have to traipse off and find their shit which has been strewn all over the place. I'm looking at you Zanobia and your fecking gobstones. The broom flying I felt was a bit disappointing so far, quite dull to do.

The fighting mechanics are quite tricky at times as there's usually a lot going on. It is satisfying to string together multiple combos on different enemies, but it takes a bit of getting used to, especially with the different spell tiers you unlock.

Overall, its alright. I'll complete the main story, but will I complete all the side stuff? Nah.

Minus points for Prof Garlick never getting nude.

Also the way my character asks "What do you have for sale?" at a shop, does my head in

I strolled into the broom guys shop. Walked about a bit, found some robes in his chest and sold them to him for 150.

Scammed the fecker.

I refused to wear most of the gear at first due to not wanting to look stupid, until someone here tipped me off about the transmog thing

My fiance agrees with you about professor Garlik

Garlick would be top tier relationship route if the game had them. Kawakami fans all over that.

I think to fully appreciate all the little touches in the game, you need to be a Harry Potter fan e.g.

Naimh's trial I could recognise the deathly hallows, hers is the most interesting I've done so far, the previous two were very meh. Same for the field guide pages almost all the items come up in the books

Did enjoy it but felt like it really lacked depth and quite a lot of the design really killed my immersion.

Just comical using Avada while with Figg etc.
Would of been nice to have quidditch and more 'hogwarts events' type things.

The world is a little bland, full of repetitive side stuff.

Did find the main quest pretty dull, Sebastian questline with more depth added as a main quest would have been better imo.

Looking for the answers...
I’ve completed the main story, along with the Sebastian, Poppy and Natsai arcs as well.

Is that it in terms of main quests? I’m only mid-level 30. How the hell am I going to get to level 34 for the house cup? Have I just got to grind random little things now to level up?

My character connects with the girl who used to have that big white bird dragon thing you can ride. Forget her name. She’s a hufflepuff

Assuming she’s the same age as my character

I just can't go over how cozy Hogsmeade is. Doesn't get anymore so that's for sure.
