Hugo Ekitike | Chelsea, Liverpool & Arsenal linked

100 euro for this guy seems insane to me. When I watch him, he seems like a slightly more talented version of Jackson.

I like his attributes and I'm pretty sure he'll end up being a very good player for a top team some day, but this seems like an extremely risky transfer for that fee.
No one is paying 100m for him. No one.

100m seems very excessive, a sign of the striker market!
Frankfurt demanding 100m doesn't mean that Ekitike is worth that, it just means they are in no need to sell him. After selling Marmoush in the winter and qualifying for the CL their bank account looks pretty great.
I read he underperforms XG drastically and is a very rough diamond. To my mind that seems a crazy few things to say about a potential 100m striker?
He matured a lot during the season. I wouldn't say he is that rough. He handled the pressure well to replace Marmoush as the main man in Frankfurt's attack and kept them going. Most people expected Frankfurt to drop out of the CL race when they sold the best player in the league (yes, Marmoush was that this season), but they didn't. That is largely due to Ekitike dealing well with that situation.
Frankfurt finished 3rd in a lesser league, he scored 15 in 31, 8 assists. Not bad, but is a player like Delap at Ipswich much worse?
Ekitike has far more experience and is much more versatile. And if you look at their numbers keep in mind: Delap has been Ipswich main striker all season. Frankfurt focused on Marmoush for half a season.

I agree. Watch one of those “last 50 shots” videos and it’s easy to see why he underperforms XG so much. He sidefoots practically every shot, almost never strikes the ball with authority.

IMO, he also might struggle with the physicality of the PL. I haven’t seen him enough to judge but in limited viewing he came across as all finesse, not much desire to bang up against CBs.

If that's the case then 100 EUR seems perfectly reasonable.
What do you think of this as a potential signing?
Liverpool can take their pick of the few available strikers and they're going to gamble on a Frankfurt signing?
They have a habit of making mediocre players look good.

He reminds me more of Isak tbh. Has so much to his game, although he looks very raw, can see the potential there.

I have not seen one minute of football from Frankfurt so hard to comment on that. He looks a bit rigid imo, was surprised to read that he's only 1.90cm and e.g. Sesko is 1.95cm yet moves more fluently.

I have no idea whether he's the finished article or a work in progress, but any striker will score goals in our team imo. In that sense I can see why they thought even Nunez would work but his first touch and basically all-around game and even finishing just lets him down too often. Isak seems off limits now that Newcastle qualified for the CL, so we'll see who we end up with. Just nice to see that the board understands a striker is the next priority.

223,000,000,000 Pesos for him and Wirtz doesn't feel like clever Liverpool business.

I said this previously but I think he could have an Isak type of rise to prominence. They share a lot of the same qualities and style.
That's what Liverpool is banking on. They also thought Nunez was the next big one tbh.

I guess I'm going to have to get used to the idea of Ekitike at Chelsea. I had hoped for a more experienced striker, but Ekitike's potential is hard to not get excited about.

100m seems wild. This summer Benjamin Sesko, Gyokeres, Jonathan David, Liam Delap and also Osimhen are available on the market.

£84m/€100m but yeah I agree it’s a lot for the risk of buying raw potential. It’s the PL tax, if the player was in the PL you’d be lucky to sell him abroad for anything over £20-30m.

It’s not a purchase I think we should be making personally.

I don't feel he's a 100m player.

I don't either. He's a player that will require time and patience to develop. I feel even if we negotiate it down to £70m (80m euro) it's a huge risk and an overpay.

But if he's the guy we've decided to pursue, I hope Frankfurt don't play hardball on the fee.

Don't think Liverpool buy two 100m players so definitely think you go for him
