"I'd rather be out of Europe completely to concentrate on the league"

I don’t even care about the league I’m just happy this lot aren’t going to put us through Thursday nights against shite teams that try 200% from all over Europe.

Yeah, me too. Normally I value the Europa league because it is a good competition, but this season it’s more I’d rather subject myself to as little Man Utd football as possible

On one hand, the Europa League could've possibly been a pleasant distraction from the weekly misery of the league.

On the other hand, we probably would've faced our usual murderer's row of Spanish feckers. Making our way past Sevilla (somehow), Sociedad and 2002 Deportivo La Coruna with Diego Tristan and Roy Makaay before Liverpool destroyed us in the final.

If you say it enough times you'll believe it!

Forget the league.. I just have no interest in the Europa League.. I'll force me to stay up till 4am to watch United be abysmal again.

Usually it is a dumb line.

However I do think we need 1 game a week. Not because I think we will win the league or even finish 4th. Because we need more time on the training ground, divorced from the need to chase short term results or "salvage the season". feck all that. Can we end the season with a distinct style and method of play that we can build on next season, even with another coach and/or new players?

I guess he's trying to find something positive out of finishing last in their group! Although more games can also give you more chances to try different stuff, rotate the squad, etc.

Monkey paw unfurls.
Disingenuous take, nobody wants to be out of Europe, people don't want the conference league when we are already having a nightmare with injuries.

I think it could be a while before we see European football again

Forget CL football, I am glad we are out of it so we can concentrate on league and reaching top4 so we can play CL football again next season.

Let's get knocked out of European competition so we can focus all our efforts on qualifying for European competition

We aren't getting top 4, Europa was probably our best chance of being in the Champions League next year. That being said, the club has no ambition from top to bottom so I'd rather not just give the Glazer's a payday which is what European qualification has become, we don't even pretend to compete anymore.

Not overly arsed, we aren’t good enough to win either tournament. Get the rest of the players back and spend some time on the training pitch, as that’s where we’re really lacking. We can probably do without weekly trips to the arse end of Eastern Europe.

This is the truth

Probably for the best though isn't it? Lest Utd finish the season fielding a team solely consisting Onana, Shaw on one leg and Bruno playing the other 9 positions.

This is the funniest. And then celebrate qualifying for the CL like a trophy only to crash out and pretend the CL was never our priority. Rinse and repeat

I think this is a reasonable take. I'm also under the suspicion that the muscle injuries and the mental exhaustion can, at least up to a point, be attributed to the fact that last season (with a WC in the middle of it) we treated every game like a final even though we didn't have the squad depth to deal with such a hectic schedule. Which was followed by a preseason schedule that neither the manager nor the players found fruitful. Perhaps, the chance to reflect and reevaluate where we're at and how we can move forward isn't the worst thing that can happen.

Ten Hag would just have run the players into the ground in the PL, EL and FA Cup.

Real

I share that sentiment but at the same time I think that it's important for some of our young players, though ETH would probably ignore them.

I am amazed when anyone says this. Europa league is pretty much our level and I actually think we play well in the league with some confidence from Europe. Add to that the fact that it gives a chance at CL and this season with performances of English teams deciding whether we get 5 CL Spoys next season it was even more vital to get in

There’s benefits to both really. More resting time now and time on the trainingpitch to drill tactics and coherence, which we severely lack.

A tight schedule is what has gotten us in this injury crisis in the first place.

Id rather be in EL but it’s not like there’s no positives from not being there.

I don't get how anyone can be content with watching us for 6 more months playing for nothing bar top 4 and Fa Cup games from time to time. Europe League gave us something to look forward to at least, and whether people like it or not, it's our own level. Now the rest of the season will be pretty damn boring.

Season is over for me.

The hope is the standard of football we produce should be much better - playing once a week versus playing twice a week is a big difference. Europa is not a great comp for me, I get it's a game to watch but I'd much rather watch us once a week and see a time compete for 90mins than the rag tag performances we've been served up so far. No guarantees this happens but undeniable it's more likely without all the extra games, travel and missed training sessions.

Yep, I think it makes sense for us to drop out of Europe so we can focus in the league in order to qualify for Europe next season.

We deserve what we got - nowt. I personally won’t miss knocking off work early to get to the game only to watch that shower of shite toil against so called inferior teams and players earning a fraction of the obscene salaries they are on - to then be told how well we played by the manager.

For the first time ever I was tempted earlier to give my tickets back to the club for Villa game too.

40+ years and never missed a home game without a really valid reason - this team annoys me so much. Sad times……

The bonus of no European football is hopefully a reduction in injuries, less travel for the players, so maybe better league football. It also means less United to watch which is a blessing this season.

Would be hilarious if we managed to get our shit in one sock and string enough results to finish 5th (I’ve had a sherry, I know) and England don’t get the extra CL space because of our poor group stage.

My feelings exactly.

There’s absolutely no point in us being in either Europa or Champions League, no chance we’d beat anyone decent over two legs.
