I mean, can we even cover the first one?
Candidates:
- Maguire: absolutely not good enough as a defender to get us to where we need to be
- De Ligt: probably my pick as he’s a leader
- Martinez: out for ages
- Shaw: never in
- Dalot: maybe?
The title is literally how to replace Bruno our captainThere's another thread for potential alternative captains, that's not really the point of this one.
Yes especially if you don’t leave the best midfielder on the bench haha (Ederson)I don’t think you can replace him, but you could bring in players that have heart, professionalism talent and drive. For example, if selling Bruno and some of the other dross could get us to here:
——————— Osimhem
———————— Zirkee
———————— Chido
——— Cunha —————— Mbuemo
——— Zirkee —————— Amad
Dorgu ——————————————— Amad
Shaw ————————————————Dalot
———— Mainoo ———— Baleba
———— Ederson ———— Case
—— Heaven — De Ligt —— Yoro
——— Shaw —- Harry —— Maz
——————- Anyone but
That team is beastly with only 4 more signings
- loads of youth
- big personalities too
Pretty sure this team would give anyone a good game

He's not the player we need right now regardless of his qualities.
We need dynamic, mobile, press resistant, ball carriers.
He is none of those things - talented though he is.
Clearly trippingSancho will replace him
Our hopes of Good to sometimes really good no.10 dies with him. His replacement of same calibre will not look forward to play for memorim. Its as simple as that.
He played there a lot for Amorim so farRubbish.
Bruno doesnt play as a 10 for Amorin, and likely won't.
Bruno plays as a CM. For 100Mil > We can absolutely sign a better CM than Bruno because Bruno has so many flaws as a CM, especially from deep.
Under Amorin's formation - selling Bruno actually kind of makes sense especially given the mental sum of money on offer.

I did it to highlight squad depth, also think that Baleba and Mainoo could be our midfield for next decade. Ederson I think could also play on either wingback role as a backup so would get 40 games easy enoughYes especially if you don’t leave the best midfielder on the bench haha (Ederson)
People say this every year, yet we still manage to sign players coveted by other clubs. We'll always have pull. Can anyone explain how we get wharton, who is the most commonly quoted new recruit?
What are we offering him? We are a team that finshed 15th in the league, and then (in this scenario), sold their club captain and, by a very very long way, best player. Does that sound like a great prospect for his career?
Why would he come here, and given he's likely cost more than we get for bruno, how will he come here?
I said it in another thread, but that PSG is a prime example of a team where you don't need some super creator focal point to rip teams apart going forward. It's about a high level of technicality, mobility, and game IQ throughout the squad. People sort of fall into that same trap when they wonder how a club will replace a top scoring striker, the equation isn't as simple as "Remove X player and his G/A, you need to add that G/A back with another player to replace him".We don't need a direct replacement for him, we need to move on from a style of football which is reliant on someone who is so unique as him.
I'm not an Amorim cultist, but Bruno in general is an awkward fit for modern footballing systems unless it's as part of a fully firing top level team.

"We're Manchester United" should get it done. Can anyone explain how we get wharton, who is the most commonly quoted new recruit?

It's a lot more difficult to get somebody to be the first person to sign. It's a lot easier when you see a club making bigger signings as confirmation bias that the club is having an ambitious summer. You can win people over with that, of course with a big increase in wages and popularity United offer. Can anyone explain how we get wharton, who is the most commonly quoted new recruit?
