Obviously I don't want him to go, but if he wants to then we have no choice but to do business with Real Madrid as he only has a year left on his contract. In my view straight money is not good enough as it's one thing we are not short of.

So if we have to do the deal, which Real Madrid player would you like United to acquire as part of it?

Bale, Modric, Isco & Varane plus 25 mill and it's a deal!

Really want us to keep our best player over the last 2 seasons though.

Obviously varane would be the more sensible choice, however I don't think you should ever pass up on someone of Bales quality, someone who can win you the game on his own.

I'd be pretty happy with any of them except Isco.
Bale as first choice though. I can't see anything (except serious injuries) to prevent him replicating what he did at Tottenham.

Varane is the one we need the most and he's also somewhat realistic. Isco is the best one but they'd never let him go the way he's playing.

They'd have to pay us if it was Varane, obviously.

Bale is the one we'd want most. Varane is amazing but will go to Chelsea if he leaves Madrid. Finding a good central defender is easier than finding a match winner. There's not too many match winners out there and Bale is one of them. He can win games on his own if he's on form. Instead of Varane you've got options like Laporte, Godin, Hummels etc and although it's very hard to sign these defenders - signing a player who can win you games like Bale can is much harder

Is this ignoring ronaldo, because he'd be an obvious choice? Modric is probably their next best player though, along with being the best midfielder in the world currently, and he would be perfect in our midfield.

Varane would be a very good option for his potential along with being a very good player already, though they would add money in the deal for us. Bale 3rd or 4th choice probably along with kroos, as even though isco I think will be a much better player in a couple of years, bales pace is something we lack in our attacking players bar di Maria.

Ronaldo obviously, but we already had him and he's the most unlikely.

Modric is the one who would improve our play play the most. It's also not talent that we lack in our defense, with Rafael, Shaw, Smalling, Jones, Rojo. It's leadership and experience combined with quality. Not sure how ready Varane is to be a leader, but he's a great player. Bale would depend very much on the price.

What would happen to Casillas by the way? Now I have this weird fantasy about us ending up with Valdes and Casillas next year, where the philosophy shall decide per game which keeper would make the ass twitch the least. This should better not happen.

I voted for Varane, but if we get Dragović and he proves to be a real deal, while Smalling and at least one of the other 3 CBs show that they will fulfill their potential, then I would vote for Modrić.

All of them are pretty fecking good, so any. I've gone for Bale even though I'm not his biggest fan, because we lack pace and a player who can make things happen himself in the final third from an attacking perspective, and like Fabregas coming back to Chelsea, he's proven and you know he'll do great.

Its probably harder to find quality center backs that are realistic then it is to find goalscoring wingers at the moment. Obviously some would be punts like depay but he has the potential to be world class, then you have reus who is as good as bale but would cost 20m, etc...

Modric by far, he's the best from that bunch and believe it or not, after all those millions spent, we still lack a creative world class midfielder. Even against pub sides, we create feck all. That problem is way worse than our defence or width.

Picked Modric but should have gone for Varane.. or Bale.. or Modric again.

I hate Madrid.

It's a tough choice, but I opted for Modric. In reality I'd be delighted with any of those players at United (preferably not at the expense of DDG of course).

Bale or Varane.

Ronnie is great but im thinking long term, and you should never go back

Modric suits Van Gaal best but probably need him less than Bale and Varane; unless Van Gaal keeps faith with Fellaini over Blind and Herrera in midfield. My favourite Real Madrid player though, so no mark on him.

Bale would be great; pace, goals, but he might still get lost a little if not passed enough or allowed to play on the counter. Feel people would jump on him quick if he didn't immediately start scoring (though he's used to that now).

Varane would be fantastic and probably the one I'd vote for. Pace and intelligence; he's like the qualities of every centre back in your squad mixed into one player.

Isco the most fun to watch after Modric, but might turn into Coutinho if asked to do too much. Would hope his end product didn't go, but his ball retention is great, so would imagine Van Gaal would like him.

Seriously though, why would any of them leave Real for a team in major transition?

The sad thing is if Madrid want him they hold all the aces. They can speak to Mendes and run his contract down and give us feck all. That after Pogba leaving would be another major blow to us for the future. I hope he shows some loyalty towards the fans and signs. But the longer it goes the unlikelier it becomes.

Isco because he's an absolute joy to watch. We don't need him and he'd probably end up playing as a centre back or something but he's great.

We already have Valdes. So if De Gea or Mendes comes in next month saying he doesn't want out this summer, but will leave the summer after that on a free, then he will simply not play next season. He wouldn't want to miss a year of his career just to get a free transfer I think.

Bale or Varane + cash would be fine.
(No, not Bale + Cash, i'm not that thick)

We'll get the I've not made my mind up shite and he will play most of the season in the hope he signs. I hope not and hope the club if he doesn't commit by summer sell him. We have seen better players than him leave. I'd like us to start acting like a big club again and state our intent. If players think the grass is greener then feck off!
