Man, I really don't like this list anymore. So many old films with 10-20k of votes. Not comparable to the newer movies. In no way. You have Kill Bill with 200k and many movies considered better with 10 times the amount of votes less.

They really should split this list and have 1960 and older movies (or something like that) one a separate list. Most people who uses these lists are looking for movies not quite so old. Sure Hitchcock is good but there's only about 10 movies of the ones I haven't seen on that list that I want to see.

tbh, it does give great all around list for movie beginners. I wouldn't call it a perfect list by no means, but it's not overly elitist, and plenty of easy viewing flms, good mix too really.

Well, watched American History X last night. Norton was fantastic in it, really very powerful cinema, well deserving of it's place on the list though i'd argue slightly higher maybe.

Been working at this a little - watched Rashomon, Yojimbo and High Noon over the past few days: also watched the Prestige last night, which was actually a really good film.

Rashomon's photography is out of this world and the atmosphere throughout is fairly intense but especially so actually in Rashomon.

Yojimbo is like a Japanese western and as such it's absolutely fecking fantastic, Mifune really is a great actor and the film is always interesting, plus Samurai's > Cowboys. Maybe.

High Noon, oh Gary Cooper, you spend an hour walking around the town and made it enjoyable. It's a great film, but it's slow, watch it when your in the mood to watch a film but not if you want a quick fix.

The Prestige, Michael Caine and David Bowie make this film pretty good anyway. But it's actually a very, very good movie, Nolan really has a talent for film-making, who thought a feud between magicians could be entertaining without being silly.
