Great performance from Wales, delighted with the win but adds to frustration of earlier performances and results. Will enjoy this for now though

Just to remind me again, is decider head to head or GD?

If it's Head to Head then Wales win their last two and they qualify automatically, Croatia go to play offs?

Magic. First time we’ve qualified automatically since 98 and we’ve done it with two games to spare.

Would’ve bitten your hand off to take it to the last game before it started.

Lagerbäck would never have given any minutes to players like Nusa and Bobb.

Horneland and Knutsen most likely won't take an international job before they try their hand at a European club (unless they decide they don't want to). International jobs so often easily taint your resume if you had a rising star.
He did give minutes to both a way too young Ødegaard and Martin Samuelsen or was that Høgmo?

But foreign route with the kind of players we have know should mean a slightly bigger name than someone like Lagerback. Tell Semb to get Bielsa on the phone

It would be a three-way H2H on 16 points in that case.

Morata was offside. Exact same situation happened in the CL final last year when Benzema's goal was disallowed vs dippers.
Ahaaa because if he wasn't there the CB wouldn't have to try and clear the ball. I get it now.

Head to Head.
Croatia in big trouble then. I assume if Wales beat already beaten Turkey in last game (and win in Armenia) then they go through as they'll have more points from the combined games.

What a mess Croatia have made of this round. Their front line pretty mediocre tonight, never really replaced Mandzukic in final third and Modric can't go on for ever.

Well if Wales beat Turkey (who have nothing to play for now) they'd be on 7 points when you factor in the 4 points from Croatia games. Croatia will only have 4 points.

Wales got to make sure they don't slip up in Armenia. That's tricky and Armenia did huge damage in Cardiff on the break so Wales got to be ultra professional there.

Spain is obviously a better team, so this was not a match Norway was expected to win anyway, but still, again we don't show up when it really matters.

Feck off Spain and Scotland. I hope all your players fall whenever they tries to get walk. Stupid sun having, whiskey drinking, sheep caring, umbrella using, not understandable talking, cava producing, tapas eating, no socializing, beach going assholes.

Both was Høgmo yes, in 2014 and 2016.
Lagerbäck took over in 2017.
Didn't call up Ødegaard until 2018 when he was 19, he got a a small sub appearance and 70 mins in friendlies, then was stuck on the bench for Nations League until November, a month before he turned 20.

But I agree that if we were to go international now we should be able to attract a bigger name. Not sure who would fit though.

Norway can go back to what we do best, theoretical possibilities.

We get a play-off if one of these scenarios happen:

- 16 of these 22 countries automatically qualify. Right now: 14/16.
- 4 of the 7 countries to the right automatically qualify. Right now: 2/4.

- Croatia are irrelevant because if they qualify then Wales won't.

- Poland are 100% a lost cause. Both them and Czech need to finish ahead of Albania which is impossible.

We basically need 3 of these to happen:
- Netherlands to qualify automatically. Should be a banker, they just need to avoid defeat to Greece tomorrow and then they'll qualify.

- Serbia need to beat Montenegro at home tomorrow and they're more or less qualified. If they drop points it's not in their hands anymore.

- Denmark are a given. We need Finland over Slovenia. Finland are 4 points behind Slovenia but with more favorable fixtures. Finland need to win all 3 (two plum home fixtures and San Marino away). Slovenia need to lose in Denmark, and drop points in Northern Ireland (one last hurrah Jonny Evans?).

- Switzerland should qualify. The rest of the group is... complicated. We need Israel to qualify. Romania are 5 points ahead of Israel. But Romania's remaining fixtures are Israel (A) and Switzerland (H). Israel have 4(!) matches remaining, Romania (H), Andorra (A), Kosovo (A) and Switzerland (H). The latter two need to be rescheduled and god knows when those will be played. Or where those will be played. If Israel win their 'home' match against Romania they should automatically qualify.

- Israel get the Russia treatment and are banished for being the cnuts they are. Romania qualify automatically and Israel lose their play-off spot.

- Bosnia (9p) or Iceland (7p) to qualify over Slovakia (13p). Bosnia have Portugal (H), Luxembourg (A) and Slovakia (H). Portugal have nothing to play for so hopefully use their reserves. Slovakia have Luxembourg (A), Iceland (H) and Slovakia (B).

If Netherlands and/or Serbia mess up against the odds we could hope that Ukraine finish ahead of Italy. That way we would still only need one of Finland, Israel or Bosnia to qualify. But Netherlands/Serbia shouldn't be messing up so at the moment the outcome of Italy vs Ukraine doesn't matter that much.

TLDR: There's a chance

In addition Moldova could feck this up if they win their last 2 and qualify directly with Albania. Seems highly unlikely though (odds of 21) given they face the current top 2 and they don't score many goals either.

We need these teams to qualify automatically:
  • Netherlands (1.22). 82%
  • Czech (1.1) or Poland (6). 96%
  • Austria (1.05). 95%
  • Hungary (1.03) and Serbia (1.3). 72%
  • Denmark (1.03). 97%
  • Switzerland (1.04). 96%

We also need one of these teams to qualify automatically:
  • Finland (4). Not Slovenia (1.22). 18%
  • Israel (1.83). Not Romania (1.73). 43%
  • Bosnia (8) or Iceland (22). Not Slovakia (1.25). 20%

If Netherlands fail we'll need two of Finland, Israel, Bosnia/Iceland and Ukraine (3.75). If Serbia fail we're fecked.

Roughly there's a 50 % chance we get a play-off. If we do get the play-off there's about a 99 % probability we bottle it.

@Catt @Eriku the hope hasn't killed yet!

Do or die today. 3 points today and the ticket is all but ours.

Surely we will beat Greece. Surely? :nervous:

Gylfi starts for Iceland. After today he'll have played more international football than club football for the past 2 years.

Austria qualify. So that gives us:

Germany (host), France, Portugal, Belgium, Turkey, Spain, Scotland and Austria who have qualified so far. All of those were present at the last Euro's.

I wish my country wasn't a football dwarf. :houllier: How the mighty have fallen - from beating Germany for fun in the 90s to present day where I'm positive Bulgaria can't win a group with Luxembourg, Malta, Lithuania and Liechtenstein. In fact we'll be lucky to finish 3rd in that group, it's that bad.

Football fans around the world, never let drunken ex footballing legend take charge of your football. Never.

Bruno just missed a sitter from fine Dalot's backpass.

How the feck is that a pen?
I want to know how many penalties has Ronaldo scored from these kind of situations?

Edit: are we watching the same game?

How is that not a pen? He goes down easily then proceeds to lay his arm on the ball twice. These handball rules are so vague.

(Watching Greece Vs Netherlands btw)

What happened to him? With Greenwood and Antony it was in the news for weeks and months. Has anything being proven about Gilfi? Rare to see a player not play in so long and there's no official reason. All just rumours or anything with more substance?

Not sure what it's called in England but he was basically under house arrest in England for almost 2 years but no charges were made. Nothing reported on what possible offenses he was being held for.

Yeah but I'm not just talking about this game. Martinez has just some months of being our manager and we are playing miles better now. We haven't played top opposition though, so it may be that as well.
