To the last few posters, really? Bitter motherfeckers
Sorry, but no he still needs to leave this window. As he wasn't playing against a quality team, its just we made these look like Peps prime Barca at times.Lingard played like the player he was one and a half year ago, which is a player who is very useful to have in the squad if he keeps it up.
because if he can somehow get his next deal here then he’ll never get the same money and fame at any other club he could go and be a starter at. It’s basically West Ham or Everton from here. If he scores a few more goals he can go to Ed and say I want an improved deal or I will wait and fight and go for free next year to try and get himself the best deal possible.... I wouldn’t back against Woodward signing him up to protect the asset. It’s Woodward and Ole has known this lad since he was 6 or something. There may be one more chance left for him. This is the spot for Jesse to make the most money and keep his brand relevant for as long as possible. He’s got a thick skin anyway! For what it’s worth I do really hope the club are ruthless in getting rid of players like lingard, Andreas, mata and Jones this summer and freeing up money to reinvest. What I don't get though is why would Lingard hire Raiola as his agent and then proceed to bang on about fighting to stay at the club and help it succeed and all that.
I think Lingard's time has gone now. I do have sympathy with his personal issues but it would be better for the club if he's moved on. Jones, Rojo and Andreas can go tomorrow. I would give Shaw a make or break season. I would love Pogba to commit and sign another contract maybe people would get off his back then in an improving team.because if he can somehow get his next deal here then he’ll never get the same money and fame at any other club he could be a starter at. If what they were saying about Henderson getting paid absolutely huge wages on his next deal is true I fear we may even be stuck with 2 outstanding goalies who just weren’t the right fit here in the end. We could end up losing a lot of money on both really. you definitely need a keeper with absolutely top distribution and communication if you’re playing out from the back.I think Lingard's time has gone now. I would actually keep Mata as an emergency cover for Bruno for one season - there is no point playing him on the right I don't understand why they even bother - but at 10 in games we have control of he can do some damage from there. He will also always score his fair amount of free kicks. I would like to see a bench full of the kids but you have to give them someone to follow too.
I really don't know what to do about goalkeeper though. If we can't move him on with those wages then he should be pushed extremely hard in training and made to refocus - he still has to be a decent shot stopper at his age.
Don't want to throw money at a goalie yet we have more important signings to get in. Henderson is a viable alternative - maybe just one year too soon but I would do it if we can't get a tune out of Dave.
Yes, which is normal for a B-side with next to no interplayer relations or match fitness, playing against a side with nothing to lose and which have beaten ok sides such as Sporting (w/ Bruno), PSV, AZ 67 and FC Basel this season.Sorry, but no he still needs to leave this window. As he wasn't playing against a quality team, its just we made these look like Peps prime Barca at times.
OGS has personally known him since he was a kid at the club and they have a strong relationship.I hope he stays. If its true his mother is ill and his form has been effected by that, we need to support him. Not ship him off to Everton or Palace for a pound of flesh. He's been here since he was a kid. I could name 10 people I'd rather see leave than Jesse Lingard.
we're not an agony aunt. There's standards that are set then needs to be reached.I hope he stays. If its true his mother is ill and his form has been effected by that, we need to support him. His best form has never come close to producing what Grealish has done this season. There’s no room for sentiment in professional sports. The best managers / teams are ruthless. Lindgard has been subpar for a long time, regardless of what’s happening off the field. He’s been treated more than fairly and given a multitude of chances. It’s time to wish him well, hope he finds his level elsewhere, and bring in a better player. If he find back his form maybe there's no need for us to buy Grealish
I could easily name 10 players I’d rather have taking his spot on the squad. Guy will be 30 in a few years and hasn’t shown anything in his game that’ll improve the team and make it successful. Not nice his mum was ill, but he’s had too quality support available and is in a very privileged position. Many players go though bad shit but get on with their profession. Making it an excuse for a season and a half of piss poor performances doesn’t really wash.I hope he stays. If its true his mother is ill and his form has been effected by that, we need to support him. Not ship him off to Everton or Palace for a pound of flesh. He's been here since he was a kid. This. (except the amateur part)So a goal against an amateur team is enough for some people to have him back in their good books?
Hate? Seriously? And the hate continues, disturbing.
My heart goes to him and his family but his problems are his and his alone. Players are paid ridiculous money these days. We can't have a 100k+ a week employee doing diddly squat for 18 months. It hurts the club, it hurts his team mates who have to play through fatigue and sometimes injury because there is no one able to cover for them which in turn risk fecking their own career as well and it also hurts the manager whose career depends on results. Ultimately having a good strength in depth is as important as having a top XI.This. (except the amateur part)
Jesse even before this slump in form was known as the "December player". He'd pick up a run of games in December where he's score a couple of goals, pick up a couple of assists, however come Jan he'd regress back to mean.
Don't get me wrong, I feel for him. If he's had personal issues, my heart goes to him and his family. If the club saw it fit to see him through that period, I'm proud of this club for doing that. He, however, in no shape and form deserves a new contract.
If nothing else happens, he leaves on a free end of next season. So either we cash in on him this year or allow him one more year to show he's really turned the corner. But, if his corner turning means he goes back to Jesse of 18 months ago, that unfortunately still isn't good enough.
So a goal against an amateur team is enough for some people to have him back in their good books?
Mate you are right we need to replace Lingard and these performances against minnows should not change that fact.Hate? Seriously?
Name me one top club who would sign Lingard right here, right now. The reason being that he was a half decent player who haven't performed for 18 months. We need reserve players who we can rely upon and would allow us to rest the likes of Pogba, Martial, Greenwood and Rashford. Jesse is simply not one of them.
Too obvious Isd! Better luck next timeExcellent today i would be happy to keep him instead of Grealish or Sancho and use the money elsewhere
Really disturbing. And these people are supposedly fans, and this is supposed to be a fan forum. And the hate continues, disturbing.
I posted this in the match thread before kick off:We need to keep him and push him to turn his form around. There is a top player in him.
PREDICTION: Lingard will score and play quite well and people will be saying should we keep him around as a decent squad player for next season.
I hope this isnt the case, ole should be thinking solely of what is best for the club, not lingards career, that's his agents job.OGS has personally known him since he was a kid at the club and they have a strong relationship.
Whatever decision is reached, it will be because OGS thinks that is best for Lingards career. If he leaves. I’m sure the club would do all they can to get him a good move.
I’ve always had a soft spot for him; and I think he providesa great option from the bench. But if Sancho comes in, he will find it very hard to get a run of games, and so for his career sake, He should Move away.
You can do both, and Fergie was always the same, always looked out for academy graduates and secured them good moves.I hope this isnt the case, ole should be thinking solely of what is best for the club, not lingards career, that's his agents job.
Lingard yes. Fred, no chanceScholes thinks Lingard and Fred will be moved on.
I think if I remember correctly I read somewhere we even compromised on fees to give academy players their preferred moves. You can do both, and Fergie was always the same, always looked out for academy graduates and secured them good moves.
Sancho has a serious test ahead to get into our squad with Lingard being in such form.If he find back his form maybe there's no need for us to buy Grealish
As long as looking after his career means getting him a good move away thats fine, not if it means holding onto a substandard player on a wage that could be much better spent elsewhere purely because ole has known him a long time and likes him.You can do both, and Fergie was always the same, always looked out for academy graduates and secured them good moves.
