Is the World Cup finally heading back to South America again? | Yes. Congrats Argentina

Can see Brazil winning it just as easily as them making a mess of a game against one of the better European sides.

They look much stronger than I had thought they were for some reason.

Think the answer is yes.

Agreed, unless Brazil lose their heads in a match they should really win this tournament. They didn't score as many goals as Spain but it's the control of the game they exert with their amazing spine that gives me confidence in their sustainability. Allows their embarrassment of riches in attack to do what they do best.

Brazil (and maybe Argentina if they can sort themselves out quick) vs Spain, France and England.

They look good and probably right to be favourites but the odds will still be against them.

That Neymar injury could also be a big issue for them.

Congratulations, you've just named the 5 betting favourites in the pre-tournament odds

They're also the only 4 of the top 10 or so teams to have impressed in the opening match. Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany all were dark horses but i struggle to see any of them going the distance from the first round performances.

Going by that criterium surely Argentina is no longer a favorite? At least Germany lost, because they missed 10 huge chances and got complacent.

Why are South American individuals lacking in quality so much at the moment outside of Arg, Bra and Uru?

Almost no great players from Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru. Hadn't realised just how bad it is currently. Worst situation in 40 years (or more)?

Wasn't there a statistic no European team has ever won a World Cup outside of Europe until Spain broke that jinx in South Africa 2010. Brazil and Argentina are on the same half of the draw so either who beats each other in the semi if they make it that far will probably win it.

Kids nowadays are more focused on video games, gaming wasn't mainstream 20 years ago, it is nowadays.

They don't spend much time outside playing football, rather spend time on videogames and mobile phones.

And they don't have the massive population of Brazil to pick players from everywhere.

Messi is halfway to being in the conversation as the greatest player of this generation. Amazing player
