Too old

We wouldn’t have enough cake

Just a thought why not sign his brother too? He could be the experienced cb we need

The only City players I would want is to sign is KDB and David Silva and that is pushing it.

Why sign a 35 year old past it midfielder on a free from our local rivals? Especially when the club could spend £300m in one window if it wanted.

Short answer: No.
Let me see as I wouldn’t mind a few of them like:

Walker
Jesus
Sane (Definitely)
Sterling
Fernandinho
Mendez looked good
Silva

Yep and there are a few more who would instantly upgrade our squad quality.

Maybe we can get Rooney back as a backup striker now that Martial might be off...

I'm positive the forum has concluded that this is not a good idea.

After the Fellaini might stay and swap deal between Martial and Perisic threads, I didn't think it could get more depressing in here. I was wrong.

What compels someone to think this is thread worthy??

If we are signing someone old for a free, sign Beckham. Fairly sure he can still cross a ball.

I would only want KDB and Silva because they are the only 2 world class players in the squad. The rest are very good players. I say I would only want the world class players because even then it is pushing it for me being even slightly happy to have an ex City player playing for United.

To even contemplate signing someone of his character, who's legs have clearly gone is insane to me.
It would be like resigning Rooney.
Bale is still a good player. Yaya and Rooney are not.

Imagine midfield of Matic, Toure and Fellaini  we might as well sign Peter Crouch while we're at it.

Sure he is...when he isn't injured.
His injuries make him undependable and I dont foresee his injury record being any better in the EPL, which is faster and more physical than La Liga.

This is his injury record for the last 3 seasons:

17/18 Calf Problems Nov 30, 2017 Dec 11, 2017 11 days
17/18 Pulled hamstring at the adductors Nov 9, 2017 Nov 27, 2017 18 days
17/18 Calf Injury Sep 28, 2017 Nov 6, 2017 39 days
16/17 Calf Injury Apr 24, 2017 Jun 1, 2017 38 days
16/17 Calf muscle strain Apr 13, 2017 Apr 20, 2017 7 days
16/17 Ankle injury Nov 24, 2016 Feb 16, 2017 84 days
16/17 Hip injury Sep 15, 2016 Sep 22, 2016 7 days
15/16 Disrupted Calf Muscle Jan 18, 2016 Mar 3, 2016 45 days

Also Bale has turned down MUFC numerous times. Next season I expect him to end up in China, unless he is prepared to take a massive pay cut.

Ok, it's still not comparable to signing Yaya Toure.

Yaya wold be probably be injured less but both would be useless for United.
Both would be terrible, regressive signings.
Hope you're watching him play right now. Very 2018 Yaya Toure like.

He was on 250k a week when that sum wasn't handed around like sweets.
Imagine bringing him in now

Wouldn't let the lazy, tiny eared, money grabbing Mercenary through the front gates to visit the museum (even if he was paying)

I never said we should buy him. Comparing Bale to Yaya is just wrong.

After all, Jose Mourinho is looking to replace Michael Carrick this summer.

“Yeah he just left,” Toure tells MEN Sport. “Let’s see, let’s see.”

Seriously?

“I don’t rule big teams out. The big teams are very important for me. What they want to achieve, the way they want to go, for me is very important.

“I want to go somewhere I can win and achieve.

“It’s going to be hard one day to play against City, but I have to do that. It is part of my job.

“I’ve been playing football for such a long time, I’m no good in the office or something else. I am good in football.

“To see myself at a different club is going to be difficult. I have been such a big part of City for such a long time now. I just want to say that definitely I will continue to play at a high level - Champions League or Europa League.

“I want to play two more years. They have to be in the higher level and then I can do something else.”

If Toure is looking to the future, so is Pep Guardiola, who has made replacing the 35-year-old his priority this summer.

Napoli midfielder Jorginho is among the Catalan’s top candidates to fill that berth.

But asked if he could hand pick his own replacement, Toure returns the theme to United.

“I love Paul Pogba,” he says. “I love Kevin (de Bruyne) as well and I love (David) Silva. Silva was my player.

“It is difficult because you have to be good on all things. Silva is short and strong.

“Pogba - it’s difficult because of the way the media has treated him. We don’t have the same characteristics because for me I was involved in all the ball, I ran everywhere.

“I liked that. I was prepared for that. I was working for that for a long time.

“When I was in the academy in Africa I had to run everywhere, get box to box in 50 seconds. It’s something I’ve been loving to do.

“Pogba is the same size, power - but different in the way he wants to go. Technically as well, the ability to score goals as well. It is a player I want to play with, to be honest, just to teach him some things.”

It is a measure of his success at the Etihad - winning three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and three League Cups - that talk of his astronomical wages soon dissipated.

Pogba - who faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after being dropped by Mourinho this season - could do worse than listen to ‘Uncle Yaya’ - as he was known among his City teammates.

“Pogba is a great player,” he says. “He’s a fantastic player. He’s a little bit young at the moment.

“Criticism is a part of life. If they criticise you it’s because they want you to be good or be better.

“I’ve been criticised and I love to be criticised. I like it. I don’t mind if people talk about me - it’s good. It means I have to achieve, I have to be better.

“Even if you continue to be at the peak of your game, sometimes they are going to find something to tell you. It’s part of life. We have to deal with that.”
