If it was only down to sense of rivalry or personal dislike, it wouldn't be so unbearable. What bewilders me is the fact that people who call themselves football fans, and regularly do watch this funny, but relatively simple game, can be absolutely and totally ignorant about it.
I don't generally think any football manager is a "genius", and for me this whole elite football world is ridiculously overpayed and mythologized. I enjoy the show, but wouldn't shed a single tear if it all disappeared tomorrow. Also, sometimes it really is hard to estimate managers impact in this game. I believe it's because most of these people are mediocrities who got the job because they are ex footballers.
But there are very few cases of distinct brilliance. Guardiola really is one of those, and I personally don't remember a football manager with such clear signature in the way his teams play, and who made it work so consistently at the highest level. I mean, even as a player he stood out in terms of tactical acumen and intelligence. I simply can't understand how can someone watch this game and not see it.
