To genuinely answer, yes. I think after the pandemic happened, yours (and everyone else’s) financial budgets went out the window courtesy of all the lost revenues. 43 million will equate to a significantly higher value than the stated amount for a club of your stature.
Here’s a genuine question for you, even though you’re not running your club so obviously just even as a fan, would you honestly keep Sancho for another year at the risk of making less money on a player you bought as an investment to begin with? Knowing fine well that investment won’t peak any higher then this summer?
Also - yes I know Haaland technically counts as a signing from last season but as I said, post covid your precious financial plan went out the window.
It depends. It could be that they have players in sight where they wanting to wait to see how they progress and buy them in one year. It could be that they got players in sight they would buy for a post-Sancho team but its only possible in one year cause of their contract or whatever, and so on.
There are a lot of factors you have to keep in mind. Next season Sancho has only one year left yeah, but it could be that the mentioned above option to only get 50 Mllion is also a favor of their plans cause they think more clubs are in for him looking for a bargain or are in another position or demand like now, Real, Barca, Liverpool, who knows. You also have to take into account that Götze and Schürrle and Toprak have left the club, leaving financial space cause at least Götze and Schürrle were players with high salarys. And that you got Reyna directly coming after Sancho, so that they could think "hey lets wait how Reyna steps up, so that we don't need to buy an exact replacement of Sancho cause we already got one, and therefor don't need sooo much money cause we only have to adapt this little screw here or there in the squad". I can't explain this through at this moment (cause of my aweful english and post restrictions) but i hope you get a glimpse of what i mean.
All i wanted to say is, that i wouldn't wonder if Zorc doesn't mind. They got plans for all scenarios, and just keep relaxed, having set a deadline (to stay in their plans, and yeah of course it can get a little bit later than that) and a sum, and if it doesn't happen then plan b comes in line. Now the ball is in Uniteds field, that is something a lot of people would agree on i guess.
