It's no secret James Rodriguez is not a happy man in Madrid at the moment. The Colombian international has often been left on the bench since the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid manager, and has been jeered by fans.

A few days ago, Spanish newspaper Marca suggested the future of James Rodriguez and Isco could be elsewhere, as the La Liga giants doubt their commitment towards the club.

Marca also claimed Manchester United are interested in signing James Rodriguez, which could be the biggest transfer of the summer.

Rodriguez was given an end of the season deadline to convince Zidane, but it appears things haven't changed much, and the Colombian international is now left very frustrated at the club.

Spain's El Confidencial say it'd be a big surprise if Rodriguez stayed at the club beyond the summer, and the club wants to sell him.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, is already looking for potential buyers, but it seems Real Madrid have made it clear they want to recoup his transfer fee of €80m.

The rumours of James Rodriguez quitting Real Madrid in the summer are starting to gather pace, but it remains to be seen if Mendes can find a club willing to pay his huge transfer fee, or Real Madrid keep him for another season.

Jorge Mendes is close to Manchester United, and that definitely gives them an advantage, should the claims they're interested hold any truth.

We've said it several times in the past, El Confidencial are quite reliable in Spain, and it does seem Rodriguez could be switching clubs in the summer. This is similar to how their Angel Di Maria exit stories started, and we all know what happened with that.

Signing James Rodriguez would provide Edward Woodward with a Galactico deal, but it could be a case of buyer beware, there's been much criticism of him in the Madrid media and, unlike with Di Maria, a lot of it looks deserved.

If Mendes is on the mission El Confidencial claim he is, then Manchester United is a very likely option for him to try.

Good luck moving him for 80mil!

Would prefer Isco but wouldn't turn him down if the sums and playing plans/style for next season sit well with him.

18 goals in 52 matches last season
7 goals in 25 matches this season

for 40m its worth a punt

Maybe as a 10 with a free role? I cant see that suiting a Mourinho side but he is a fantastic talent who could replace Rooney as the face of our media deals.
Isco himself hasn't been anything special. It's as if people have a fixed opinion of a player from a few years ago and it does not change regardless.
At least James has these moments of genius while Isco has been nowhere quite frankly.

Might aswell rename us Mendester United ahead of next season. He's going to be running the show at this rate.
He's got some awesome clients so I wouldn't be too bothered.

He'd be an upgrade over Lingard/Mata/Rooney at no.10, would easily be our best option at RW too.

Having said that I'd still prefer Griezmann/Mahrez.

Quite similar to Bale. Good first season, tapered off towards the end and haven't recovered since.

His talent is undeniable though, but United and South Americans just don't mix

What is the fascination with Isco on this forum? Rodriguez is a much better player.

He isn't a winger. Real want to "recoup" the fee they paid.

----------Ibrahimovic-------------
Martial----Rodriguez----Dembele
-----Gundogan--Schneiderlin----

This should win a title or two with Mourinho I would think

He is class act, but the only position where he really excels is the 10 spot, with freedom to roam around.

Him with a mobility front 3 like martial, rashford and lingard could be lethal. He has eye for a pass and have eye for goal. And we lack both from midfield.

this would put a halt to the future chances of Pereira making the first 11 though

For the right price (40M pounds top), i would really like him.

Well wouldn't be the first time would it. Last time he ran the show we was lifting titles.

James is better than Isco, the Cafe just always seem to create a darling and don't let it go. Toni Kroos was the best centre midfielder in the world 2 years ago on here. Would never of guessed it after recent links.

Found him overrated ever since the World Cup. I would be surprised if we let Real Madrid use us for financing once more.

What exactly are the strengths in his game? I haven't watch him near enough to provide any sort of analysis in this question. Is he quick- both in terms of pace and agile dribbling ability? Can he actually play as a creative #10 or is a he glorified second striker who finishes things off in the final third like Mata currently does?

Best thing about him is his long range shooting ability. Other than that, he hasn't got any other special traits. He's an ok player but not really great.

Honestly, I dont think we should be going for Barca, Munich or Madrid players unless theyve said its their dream to play for us. I know they have good/great players, but if those clubs dont want them, there must be a reason.

We should be going for hungry players who could use the platform we can provide to turn them into better players who will defo improve our first 11 (players like Martial tbh).

Only if we let Mata go and if he's available for less than £40-45m. In fairness I'd rather him than Mata !

IMO you could "compare" him to Beckham

Worse crosses, better asisting from a centralized position
Worse work rate, stronger physically and better finishing with his head

He's a great player, but not worth the 80M figure, that's what you pay for a leader, a guy to build the team around him and I doubt you can be a top dog playing with James as your star player

Would go for him without a doubt to be the #10. Some proper top class quality in there to play alongside Martial and whoever else we sign (ibra ). People who are saying no thanks are mad... We literally have lingard being pretty much an automatic starter. Like he has done okay but in no way is he good enough to be first choice at a club like United. Also with no CL next season, we would be lucky to get someone anywhere close to his ability. Griezmann is the ideal player for that, but he is unrealistic. So James is probably the next best.

Isco is the more silkier player, more like david Silva, while James is the more effective player while being more of a mata type, just more mobile and more of a threat from range.

Yes, let's give them 80M for a player that has underperformed all season... It sounds so stupid that no doubt Woodward will do it.

If we want to spend 80m on a player we should go for Griezmann.

He's class and obviously a very logical transfer should Mourinho arrive and Mata leaves.
