Happy to see him doing well, and content with the decision to sell him.

The way we play. We need our strikers in the build-up.
No WE about it at all, its LVG. He ruins strikers. Got rid of Chica, turned Rooney into a ghost, loaned Wilson, and is now ruining Martial.

So, you are saying that LVG has turned Rooney into a slower player? A player who struggles to pass. Struggles to get in the correct position. Struggles to get a shot off. Kills our attacks. And has scored only 2 goals this season.
How is LVG doing this?

As for Hernandez - he scored last night and seems to be doing well for himself.
He has scored more goals this season than any of our strikers.

A good few of us could see it last summer. When a player delivers like he did in his first season for us, and then gets little opportunity to reprise that, it's short-sighted to ship him out based on the fact he hasn't delivered. He never had a run as poor as Rooney's, so where's the logic.
Well, it's strange that 3 managers didn't rate him as good enough to be a regular starter. People who worked with him every day.

Then again, what would they know?

He will always score goals when given the chance but he will miss some too especially like the one in the Newcastle game earlier this season. I guess we could have hold on to him at least until the summer but looking at his body language in August, he clearly wasn't in the right frame of mind to stay any longer.

Scored a hat trick in 13 minutes vs Borussia M'gladbach.
17 goals in 20 matches now (and 15 goals in the last 12). I believe it's his first club career hat-trick, too.

Just the hat trick for the kid today. Since he left United Chico's scored 15, we've scored 12. Clearly didn't need him...

But it's just the Bundesliga and the champions league how could he possibly do that on a cold night in the south of England?

His build up play is underrated too, plus we need someone who gets into goalscoring positions and actually takes those chances. 4 times today the ball fell to Fellaini and he lacked composure to finish it off. Can't believe we went into this season with Rooney and Martial as our striking options

We'd look a million more times threatening when Martial picks the ball up wide if we had someone like Hernandez in the box. Right now it looks like he has to emulate his Liverpool goal every time, going past everyone himself and scoring.

Let's please not pretend that he wasn't awful for us in his last season. We didn't expel him. He chose to leave because we wouldn't have given him the game time he wanted and rightly so. He didn't do much to deserve it.

The guy is a good footballer but only when he's full of confidence. He needed a change of scenery to gain that back.

Its nice seeing the success of our former players. Obviously, not good enough for us or the greatness that is our manager.

ffs it was inevitable for him to leave, he wanted to play regularly and he wouldnt get gametime here, in functional team he is a great palyer but he would get frustrated more often than not.. its better for him at lower level in Bundesliga, also certainly far less pressure there than here.. longterm he wouldnt start here anyway

Us or Real Madrid apparently.
In the worst spell of his career and he still had about a one in three record. Less if we want to actually look at minutes played. I'd kill for that now.

The stats I'm looking at may be wrong, if so feel free to correct me, but it looks like he managed to equal his goal return under Moyes, but in 2 games less at Madrid.

'Not good enough for us' scored another three times today. 17 goals in 20 matches for Leverkusen so far.

Yeah I still don´t get where the myth comes from he wasn´t good at Madrid. His scoring points per minutes average for Madrid in La Liga was 2nd to Ronaldo, ahead of Benzema, Bale and everybody else. You look at all the former United players like Chicarito, DiMaria, Kagawa, Nani and so on. At some point you might have to ask yourself whether you and who in your organisation is the problem? And truthfully speaking hearing the same old "not good enough for United" rhetoric does not seem to fit, when most of these play outstanding at clubs that perform at a higher level than United for the last 2-3 years.

Makes you want to cry really, it is fairly clear now that it was LvG's system/lack of confidence in him making him look crap when he did actually play for us, if we'd have got someone in to follow on in the 'United way' he'd still be with us banging them in.

What if that's' the problem with Rooney too? We flog him to a team that plays a system that suits him and suddenly he's back? not very likely I know but just not so sure anymore.

Right decision to let him go. There's no place for goals in modern football. Possession is all that matters.

It's happened before and it'll happen again. Rossi, Forlan, Pogba and Pique are examples of players that were deemed surplus to requirements here and then excelled in another league. We need to let go. Glad he's doing well.

It doesn't matter if you bang in an average of more than a goal a game, if you can't pass sideways then you're not good enough for us.

When we let Forlan go, we had Nistelrooy and then we signed Rooney and Saha.
When we let Rossi go we had Saha and Rooney.
When we let Pogba go, we had no-one, but we are still crying over that.
When we let Pique go we had Vidic and Rio.

Now, we have a way past it Rooney and a young promising Martial. Chicha is better than both of them.

It has been a big mistake from LVG and hopefully he pays for it very soon.

People forget Hernandez wanted to leave for first team football and was tired sitting on the bench. He was never going to get that here, or at any top tier club for that matter. No one would have given him that guarantee ahead of Rooney and Martial at the start of the season.

The funny thing is that actually his all round game now (and last year too) hasn't been bad at all. He is far from the poacher that he was in his first days here. He is quite decent at passing and crossing. While he still can't dribble, his all round game is better than Rooney's and he works his socks in the pitch.

It was simply a feck up from LVG, like many other things. Half of the deadwood he got rid have been better players than the deadwood he kept. Hernandez, Di Maria, Welbeck, Nani, Kagawa and RVP are better than Rooney, Fellaini, Young and Valecia, no doubt about that.
