At every club he's been at since 2002, Mourinho has won trophies. Will he win one at Spurs?

What are the expectations from Spurs fans as far as playing philosophy? Noticed a few are optimistic Jose will adapt and play attacking football
Wouldn’t be the best idea for him, he’s capable of producing good football but he’s not an exponent of attractive attacking football. For spurs fans the hope will be he’s found a new way to be even better at what he was rather than completely changing.

Its odd I didn't like Jose but now he is ours he is quite likable.
He’s a person capable of extracting maximum emotion out of you, I absolutely despised him following 13/14 and all the subsequent digs, but then as a pundit any time I heard him speak it was almost like you were entranced, sometimes you just know when someone absolutely knows their shit.

I know many fans would deny it but they’d feel the exact same with Jose in charge.

Mourinho on how Tottenham will play under their new manager:

"Very similar to [Pochettino]. Of course I will try to add details, and sometimes details can make the difference. Progressively we can arrive at a fingerprint. The style of play must be adapted to the club culture and also the players here."

This has been one of the key points Mourinho has tried to drive home over this press conference, that the quality of the players were ultimately what attracted him to the job.

"I like this squad very, very much. It is not something new I say to make a point."

Sky Sports are pathetic. They promote the Jose press conference 24 hrs before, telling you it’s at 2pm. When it’s 1:55pm they tell you it’s a few minutes away, after the break. It gets to 2:20pm and they say the presser is live and they’ll bring you the best bits/highlights when it’s finished... absolute twats

All it takes is a few things not to go his way and They'll add up over years.

That's how Jose works. It's always him vs the world.

Mourinho on his pledge never to manage Spurs:

"Yes, that was before I was sacked [by Chelsea]." Can he bring the Premier League title to Tottenham? "We can’t win the Premier League this season. Next season, I’m not saying we will win it, but we can win it."

feck you Chelsea

Mourinho has been praising Scott McTominay and now he's talking up his relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who he says he exchanges SMS messages with. Get Whatsapp, Jose.

Mourinho on why he chose Spurs:

"The potential of the club is huge, the potential of the club is great. The vision that Mr Levy put in front of me and the quality of the players, of the squad were the main reasons why I decide to come."

Mourinho hints that he wants to calm down the intensity of Tottenham training:

"It is not about myself, it's about the players, and to try and go forwards from a place of stability. I need a good control of the intensity of the training sessions to try and go from a base of some comfort for the boys."

That's telling, some of the players must not have been that happy.

Aha, the style of play adapted to the culture :nono:

He will park the bus as soon as he has to. It wont be from the start, i imagine he will try more attacking football and then revert back to his usual methods once the results are missing.

You mean the lazy bastards didn't like the physical side of it. Says a lot really.

His Utd side looked way off the pace in many games, must have been because he toned down the intensity of the training:rolleyes:

Mourinho on taking time off:

"It was the first summer I didn't work, it was not easy, I felt a little bit lost during that pre-season period. After that was a learning period, I even learned how to be a pundit."

Lack of depth not the lack of quality. He just couldn't freshen things up let's be honest. Now you are seeing injuries and no one to replace them
Look I like Poch a lot, these are just the things I have been saying since he was appointed. He is a good manager and I honestly do wish him well, but his time was up at Spurs. What injuries?

Mourinho on being happy:

"When I do not win I cannot be happy. I cannot change that in my DNA. If you are happy losing matches then it is difficult to be a winner. The people who learn from me have to learn: sometimes you have to work with people you don't love, and work well. And the other thing is that the people who work with you have to share my principles. I have principles I cannot change my whole career and one of them is I don't like to lose."

Mourinho on the dwindling contracts of Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Eriksen:

"I have no time for individual cases. Mr Levy didn't have time to go around this. The first thing is for the players to feel good. If they are going to leave in January, in June, or sign a new contract, everything has to be feeling good. To feel good is to be ready for September, to be ready for the team – which Jan cannot to because of injuries – but fundamentally you have to be happy. Let's go on the short term which is we have to get results in the next matches."

Door not closed on new contracts.

Mourinho on the January transfer market and what is on his Christmas list:

"Christmas list. I'm thinking about gifts I have to give to the people I love. I always try to be analytical and give the best gifts. I don't need players, I am happy with the ones I have. I always say you only know a player when you work with them. My gift is this squad."

That's it I think

This is a winner - I miss having a winner as a manager.

He had soooo much more in common with Fergie than most Utd fans care to admit.
