Still playing at 34 in Serie B for Monza.

What a strange but varied career this guy has had. He's played for 14 clubs in 5 different countries yet never made more than 100 appearances for anyone. He's also played for both Germany and Ghana.

His career has seen him play for Portsmouth to Barcelona

Used to like him. Always put in a shift and would've been more than an adequate player for a team like Arsenal or Everton.

had the talent to have a better career. still, seems like he did it on his terms so he’s probably not too disheartened about it

edit - kinda crazy Balotelli is at the same club

Journeyman,

But fair fecks, we all love a one club man who is the beating heart of your club and bleeds your colours but looking at it from a career point of view, he's worked and travelled all over Europe getting to play football for prestigious clubs and earning shit loads of cash while doing it, what a life.

Eric Choupo-Moting, who is inexplicably at Bayern now.

On the topic of Kevin Prince, I remember him scoring some absolute bangers. Had the physical and technical talent to make much more of his career, but he always struck me as a loose cannon. Luckily physical and technical talent is all you need on FIFA. He used to be such a beast on there when he was at Milan and Schalke. FUT legend.

He played for Ghana just to play at the World Cup. Retired from international football at 24. Did come back for a bit though. 15 caps, that’s it.

Scorer of great goals, definitely. Always played with a bit of sauce, but never had the consistency to be a serious option for anyone

Before the world cup 2010 Boateng made a foul on Ballack - Ballack got injured, missed the WC and never came back to the German National Team. It is not absolutely clear to the public what else did happen at the National Team - it appears that Philipp Lahm took the opportunity to take control as Captain of the team and to more or less freeze out Ballack. So yes, Boatengs foul caused the end of Ballacks Germany career, but the dynamic inside the team has caused this as well. Ballacks time was just over, and that foul speeded up the process a lot.

But while that was stupid, I always will have mad respect for his year at Eintracht Frankfurt - spent one year there, was the leader of a pack of difficult characters and got them the DFB Pokal. It is very rare to have a player such a short time at a team having such a great influence.

Always liked him as a player. He scored some great goals and always felt like he had a moment of magic in him. Feel like he had the talent and physical ability to have achieved more in his career, but having won trophies in multiple clubs and played for teams all over Europe, including Barcelona and AC Milan, it’s tough to say he hasn’t had a good career.

He was a huge talent, possibly Germany’s biggest at a point. I remember watching him in an U20 international tournament and he looked like he’d become a Gerrard-like player.

He’s like a midfield version of Ricardo Quaresma. His talent got him through doors again and again that many would think he shouldn’t be at - but for one reason or another, he couldn’t keep it together for long. His best spell probably came at Milan.

In football there are fine margins. Besides the likes of Messi - the players that make it to the top of the game are not necessarily the ‘best’ IMO. Lucky breaks here and there, and dedication account for much of it. But many players who have been at the very top could have easily had midtable careers if circumstances had been a little different, and vice versa. KPB is one example I believe of a player who could have been remembered as a top player of his era if certain things had gone differently at the right times.
