is going to be the greatest Basketball player ever. Write it down, print it, I don't care. The kid has the gift of the Gods.

Needs to work on his jump shots first.

Reminds me of that joke:
Q. Who's the only person who could hold Michael Jordan under 20 points per game?
A. Dean Smith

Jordan did stuff like that every game though. Iverson seems to throw in a lot of 8 for 28 games. Iverson is probably the best at his size though.
Best all-time NBA/ABA: Jabbar, Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Bird, Jordan, Magic, Dr. J. All of them were better than AI. No offense meant, but Jason Kidd may even be better than AI.

I hope you are right about him fitting ion with those guys. AI and Kidd are both pretty tough, not bad company to be in.

No one in the USA could have missed the story. I'm merely the eternal skeptic. If he keeps his head on straight and if he avoids major injury, I'd expect L. James to be a perennial all-star and an eventual "permanent resident" at Springfield, Mass. However, and repeat after me--no high school kid should get this much hype--it's bad for him and for the game--but, of course, if it makes the media bundles of money, it must be okay.

best ever? i doubt it...MJ was more athletically gifted than lebron, with the mindset to match.
iverson is the best player under 6'6 to ever play the game.

btw, raoul, do you remember when AI was charged in that bowling alley brawl? i never felt like the true story came out...do you have any ideas about what REALLY happened???

James will be the best ever. He may never have the Charisma of MJ, but he will be head and shoulders the best. I've watched his high school games over the past year and am confident that he is better than MJ, Kobe, and KG at this age. Naturally LeBron will have to expand his game when he gets to the pros.
Ruddy, from what I remember AI didn't play a major role in the bowling alley brawl when he was 17. Apparently some friends of his were bowling when a group of whites made some racial comments (N word, etc), and a physical confrontation took place. I think AI and his friend didn't enter until the brawl was underway. The thing was videotaped and AI somehow ended up serving 4months. The Governor of Virginia commuted him out and the whole conviction was overturned a couple of years later.
It was a huge deal in the Hampton Roads VA area at the time, because AI was seen as one of the most gifted atheletes to come out of that area since Lawrence Taylor, and indeed there hasn't been anyone nearly as gifted until Michael Vick, two years ago.

MJ wasn't playing extremely well during his high school days, he burst into the scene when he was only in college.. so i kinda agree with this statement.... but to say that Ljames will be the greatest player ever in NBA would be way over the top... IMO...

i actually think its idiotic teams are even allowed to draft players out of high school. its ridiculous and one of the reasons i dont have much interest in the sport anymore ...

That's just my opinion. I think he'll be somewhat of a cross between MJ and KG.

Whys that ? It's not like someone like James, Kobe, or Garnett need an education in order to make ends meet. If they're good enough then they should be allowed.

but it surely doesnt hurt to have an education and something to fall back on should their careers fail for whatever reason
its crazy to have 17 year olds on multi million dollar contracts and to have a team´s futures on the shoulders of some kids ... being in such a spotlight at such a tender age can only hurt their personalities ... i do not like that development in football, either, before you remind me ... although the kids in football can at least finish school

Well that's just the thing. He will be so wealthy in the next 12 months that he won't ever have to work again. If he gets injured then his insurance will make him rich. Look at Willis McGahee. He took out a $2.5m policy before the Fiesta Bowl, and will probably collect that money since he got injured.

I'm not sure if Ming is playing or not. He left the last game with a strained knee. Boston are just as inconsistent as us though.
Comparing AI and Stevie's career stats so far, the only areas AI is ahead is PPG(7 ahead though he does shoot it 7 more times a game than Steve) and steals. Steve has better shooting percentages in every stat, rebounds more and averages more assists. Let's just say we're both happy with what we've got.
