1. Moyes was hired
2. Fellaini was signed above release clause.
3. Fat contract to Rooney.
4. 6 year contract to Moyes
5. Waited so long to pull the plug on Moyes
6. Didnt give enough time to LVG when he had a plan in place.
7. Jose was hired whose style is entirely different to LVG.
8. Gave Jose new contract but didnt back him in the summer when we finished second.
9. Gave Ole full time job too early.
10. Midfield is completely ignored again under Ole
11. Didnt replace Lukaku and Sanchez and is expecting to finish top 4.

Ignoring the signings as they were risk worth taking. So it's not really a bad decision. ADM, Sanchez signings were considered brilliant at that time.
Falcao was a risk free loan.

The worst thing to happen (not necessarily a decision by the club) in my opinion was David Gill leaving. If I could change one thing it would be that.

Giving Sanchez £300k per week salary which spoil the market for our entire wage structure.

Giving Ole this job permanently. Not sacking him end of last season when its clear he is out of his depth.

What's the point in these countless threads about how bad we are or how fantastic other teams are?

We all know the issues, why do we need copious amounts of threads talking about it. Use the existing threads ffs.

Also what is that "not giving LVG time" ? I think you worded it in a wrong way. Should be "Not sacking LVG after the abysmal 8 winless runs in December".

We couldn't have sacked Moyes any sooner. Some people still think he should have had more time though.

No worries
1. Hiring Ed Woodward as Chief Executive.

Everything else is just a consequence of the above.

1.5 Allowing Moyes to get rid of all the backroom staff that had won so much with SAF to replace with staff who had won to little with him.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Appointing Ed Woodward and 90% of the subsequent decisions he's made

Moyes

Holding onto LvG for a season too long

Extending Mourinho's contract and then not backing him after finishing 2nd and winning trophies

Appointing Solksjaer

So he could waste even more money? This is not Chelsea 2004-06 where he was allowed to spend 100+million every season.

In terms of forwards, It has to be quite a hard call to decide if relying on an over the hill Rooney with Van Gaal , or going into this season with only Rashford and Martial as senior strikers was the worst decision.

I have a feeling the latter will be, as at least under Van Gaal we dominated games. Yes it was super dull, but we kept the ball and dominated.

And the problem is that quality players were in the £20ms back then! Now they'd be triple that!

Amongst footballing managerial 'Gods'
The worst decision the club has made was not hiring Pochettino. Liverpool and Manchester City hired progressive modern manager at their prime. The positive result of that is clear for anyone to see. There is only a handful available at the moment and Pochettino is the one remaining that United should go for. Break our bank for Pochettino and Kane. That will return us to the top of Europe. If the club cared about how well we do, there should be little arguments about this.

It's actually harder to think of any decisions that have been unarguably good. At most there have been some passable/okay decisions and plenty of feck ups.

With the domination of possession we had under LVG it at least gave you hope that we could be a top team with some better attackers. We were very competitive in big games, it was mainly breaking down the defences of teams that parked the bus which was the struggle. At the moment every game feels like it is a coin toss.

Yep.

Even today you didn't know if we going to romp away 3-0, or if a mistake would screw us!
Alas...

Recruitment has been bad all round.

From Moyes' lack of it, to LVG's scattergun approach (possibly more to do with Woodward) to Jose's short-term approach.

Well he did finish 2nd, and he did win multiple trophies...

And he did want Maguire for less than we've just paid for him.

I agree he needed to go when he did, but let's not rewrite history.
Europa League - One of the easiest draws ever and even then we were a good touch away of being eliminated against celta
English Cup Final -Gabbiadini's perfectly fine goal disallowed?
Yeah riding luck was always his ammo

I wonder what Woodwards minimal expectations are this season. Can't be top 4, can it?

Mourinho will probably stay as our best manager post SAF for a pretty long time, which is something many won't like to admit because of their pure hatred to him. He wasn't 100% successful but his full 2 years look night and day different to the shitestorm before and now after him, which speaks terribly bad about the club all honestly.
