A flat and boring 2 or 3 nil loss is realistic. Probably including a livarpool decision

Winning would be something to savour.

Interesting to see if Williams plays. Huge game for him if so

You guys reckon you'll line up with the same formation as the game at Old Trafford? Seemed like that was pretty effective against us earlier in the season.

Yes, but I dont think our fullbacks will go high to keep TAA and Robertson occupied this time around. It will be purely defensive this time.

    Go with a back five

    ..............AWB......Maguire.......VNL...
    Dalot/James...Fred....Matic...Williams...
    .................................AP.......
    ..............Martial......Rashy.....

Their tactics depends mostly on their fullbacks, use the wing backs to peg back their fullbacks when they are in possession, and use the same fullbacks to break quickly when we have the ball.
Sub Mata for AP in the second half.
    Prediction 1-1.

I get the feeling Lingard will start for this one and the only way I want to see him anywhere near the field is if he is played as a "defensive #10" to man mark Fabinho kind of like how Park man marked Pirlo. He offers nothing but a good engine so might as well find some use for it...

Go with a back five if Rashy is not fit.

I see how much you rate Lingard...

This is like the 80's again where they couldn't beat us but didn't really give a shit.

I want to see what we’re really made of. No-one expects us to win, the result will be the result but let’s go there and show some bloody balls and have a decent crack. I just want to see us scrap, fight, get amongst them and have a real go at them. Ability wise they’re obviously streets ahead but we can be more aggressive, show more heart and show more fight than them at the weekend. If we do that and we lose, so be it but I want the Liverpool players to leave the pitch thinking they’ve played their toughest game of the season physically.

We’re in a tough spot, hopefully we’ll sign some players but Sunday is a chance to find out who’s willing to stand up and have a dig because we’re going to need it over the next few months/years. Going to be interesting to see who’s really got the heart for it.

Before everyone gets carried away and takes this thread wildly off track, Sky also went over the Carragher on Nani challenge along with a few others.

    There's nothing to see here.

What really is annoying me right now is how often an opposition team has had their best player injured the game before playing Liverpool this season...so frustrating

Back 3 and look for the counter.

We are going to lose and i anticipate similar levels of meltdown like after the Man City game. Will take a break from the Caf for a few days or so for my own well being

Not sure mate. Rashford's injury changes everything.

United fans will be able to offer more insight into this. If Rashford is out then I'm expecting an easier game due to not only he being missing, but for me the knock on effect of lessening the danger from Martial, who I feel can be easily bullied into disappearing from a game.

Maybe not so much bullied physically, but more that I think if the first ball up to him doesn't stick or he gets dispossessed easily, then his head is liable to drop early and quickly in a game like this, especially without the support that Rashford would offer.

All that said, I expect Rashford to play anyway.

Ok, so I am not expecting much from this game. Not expecting anything really. I'd say games against Liverpool this season are tests to know what to do when we have a team that can actually compete with them. We're still the only team to have tarnished their, otherwise, perfect PL season and I don't think they'll take that lightly. They worry before facing us and that's something.

What other way is there to set up ?
4 4 2 ?and let Klopp congratulate Ole for playing the right way after you win 5-0.

Right, not to be overly dramatic or anything but this is it, if this players have any pride they should do whatever it takes to win this football match. For years Liverpool were not a title threat to us and nowhere near in quality yet used to if not beat some of our best sides, give them their hardest match all season and that's all i'm asking here. I don't care what side we put out but each player should make sure to leave your all on the pitch, make them drag you off it, give a performance befitting this great club, this in my opinion is the kind of fixture that if you win, it can be the making of a team.
Liverpool managed to beat Barcelona 4-0 with a side that wasn't anywhere near in terms of quality and in my opinion that was a result that changed their team and enhanced their mentality. We have a similar opportunity here. The amount of positivity and goodwill a win here would generate would be remarkeable. Make Liverpool know from the off that they are in for a fight to get anything and everything will take care of itself. I want fecking williams kicking at Salah's heels all match! A win is possible!

Just imagine how glorious it would be to stop them from having an unbeaten season! Petty I know, but I'm petty as feck.

Been to this fixture the last three seasons this year I couldn’t stomach it so sold our 3 tickets, just watch this space we pull off the win!!

Is Rashford going to be fit? We have absolutely no chance without him. I’m dreading the game, think Liverpool will win it comfortably but at least it means we don’t have to play them again this season.

To win? Lets be realistic here, and also forgiving, not because we wouldn't want to smash them but because we don't have the team for it. If we can nick a point it will leave another dent in their season, they will have this in the back of their minds next time they face us and next time, unless it's in the FA cup, we'll have added to this team, improved overall and we'll have a decent chance.

Going out there and expecting to beat them is an introduction in to our own disaster. As much as I hate calculating with the style of play and the result this is one game where we need to do it. It's our bitter rivals in their best form, we'd be foolish to risk huge loss by going in there with ideas of our past grandure.

We've got to go defensively and try to frustrate TAA n Robertson like we did so well in the first meeting. They are Liverpool's biggest attacking asset for me even though they are defenders. If you stop them having a big influence Liverpool aren't all that. They don't have a midfield like City do to dictate the play.

Don't expect us to get anything though and with Rashford either missing out or not being 100% if he is risked gives me no hope at all. With a fully fit squad we could beat them on our day. Without Mctominay, Pogba and maybe Rashford I'd say we need a miracle.

Assuming Rashford is out. I'd like to go 3 at the back but we don't have another fit CB bar Jones and let's just avoid that.

    De Gea
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Williams
    Matic - Fred
    Greenwood - Andreas - James
    Martial

This fixture? Park the bus and get to 0-0 at halftime. Then as the crowd gets restless, hit on the break.

I hate Anfield so much in games like this. It’s been such an equaliser for them in the years they were shite and now they’re actually good it propels them to unbelievable levels at times.

I would have much more hope if we had all our injured players back, and Fernandes deal was done and dusted, and he was playing. Depends on what system we play, 3-4-1-2 would be best I think.

    --------------------De Gea--------------

    AWB------------Maguire-----------Lindelof

    Dalot--------Matic------Fred----------Williams

    ----------------------Pereira--------------------

    ------------ Martial -------- Rashford

We should go in it with the maximum respect the game itself deserves, but we shouldn't fall in to a trap of fearing them. That itself hurts the most teams that get battered out there. If we play our cards right, the game and the atmosphere can be counter-productive for them if we don't let them play like they want to. Destructive part of our game is the most important thing now, maybe play Matic, or someone who understands how to break up play, make an early foul or get a smart booking...
