Television Loki (Tv series)

This is one of the TV series I'm looking forward to in the MCU. That and She Hulk.

Cannot wait for this series, should be a lot of crazy fun with the possibilities of the alternate realities.

Awesome

Liked mcu tv series so far. Interested to see how this goes given what we saw in endgame

I like Loki, not sure what the timeline is though. Didnt he die? Like 50 times?

This must be the alternate timeline version that Captain America, Hulk and Tony Stark visited trying to get the stones from the past - he escaped from that one.

Yep & he’s messed up the timeline. The premise seems similar to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow that he goes round trying to fix it, but he probably has his own agenda at play too.

This version of Loki also should be more mischievous than the one we saw in the later MCU films, who seemed to be more anti-hero than villain with each passing film.

If the show will hit the nail on head, hopefully they'll make more seasons. Thor was too cliche of a hero anyways.

I couldn't stand Thor until Ragnarok. Hopefully they keep him like that. My mate, who is a massive comics nerd says Ragnarok ruined Thor. I don't get that...

Ragnarok wasn't based on a comic book, though there are some similarities to other Marvel's comic books stories. A true horror for any purist nonetheless...

Feck the purists. What matters is whether or not the story told and the film itself are any good. Not that it matches some old comic book.

Kinda, sorta yes, not only that, some comic book source materials are just too awkward in translation to motion picture. Judge Dredd is perfect example, so glad that Dredd 2012 had different, more realistic look. Stallone version had just a few good scenes.

Ragnarok had no Natalie Portman, good actress but thankfully her character wasn't slowing things down and the cast for this was just perfect.

Wow, Owen Wilson, that's a nose I havent seen in a long time.

The multi verse explanation and then loki reaction was brilliant

First half of the episode looks like it was taken from Terry Gilliam's Brazil.

If this is Marvel's version of 12 Monkeys, then okay, I guess...

Very exposition heavy like the critics said. Literally having to sit through Loki watching the highlights from 3 or 4 of the movies just to catch him up on what’s going on. Hopefully now the ground rules are set it will take off.

Solid start. Hiddleston’s so good in this role. His reaction to seeing the “future” events was well done & I think he & Wilson will work well.

If I understood correctly, their explanation for Avengers going back in time is that those events were meant to happen?! If the sacred timeline exists & needs to be protected, surely Steve doing what he did at the end of Endgame creates a multiverse?

I liked it. I think having most of the stage setting and exposition right off the bat is a good way to go about it. The TVA while in the comics isn't exactly extremely well known. So, having the purpose and the reasoning/history clearly defined for the general MCU audience right off the bat is a good way to go about it imo. It had a good overall length I thought as well. They had to answer the obvious questions about why Loki gets in trouble but the Avengers didnt when they had a time caper in Endgame. They did for their purposes and can now move on with their story.

To me the little flashback scene worked. THIS Loki didn't experience those moments. We saw that Loki endure all that and have all that character growth and finally die trying to stop Thanos. Variant Loki didn't do all that, he didn't have the experiences that moved him to that place yet. I found that interesting, and it works for me story wise to get him to a place of being helpful in this show. He has seen what the "sacred timeline" has in store for him. This is an opportunity for him to do something that maybe isn't expected. And he would still think down the line there may be a way to turn things to his advantage again. Which is fun for us.

I was ok with that, will be interesting to know if there was a drop off on viewers waiting for a week as I could have easily seen 1 and 2 right off the bat (like I said would have worked with wandavision)
However given the length it's fine as it's set everything up going forward as we know the motives and purpose behind the coming episodes

Yeah really liked the reactions of loki seeing stuff he didn't experience himself in his own timeline

Loved it!, Strongest one of the Disney + originals so far.

I found the first half of the episode to be really boring, but the second half was better and more interesting. Nothing groundbreaking though.

In fairness, the first episode of the previous two Marvel shows weren't any better either but they improved as they went on.

Pretty sure Thor isn't that funny in the comics. He mostly talks in a pretty serious and poetic way to make him different than the other heroes considered his state as a Nordic god.

But for the MCU the Thor version that was present pre Ragnarok was damn boring and by far the least interesting out of the cast. Ragnarok made him ten times better regarding the MCU, and regardless of how he acts in the comics.

I think he was supposed to come across boring, in the Thor film anyway, especially when he first came to earth and everything was foreign to him.

Ragnarok I thought was great personally, toss up between that and Guardian films as my favourite of Marvel, simply because of the comedy side to them.
