Fletcher might be brilliant at the job or he might not. Just like Monchi or Zorc would be.

Monchi is regarded as one of the best in the business but alot of Roma fans can't stand him.

I'm sorry I think I've misheard you, did you say Darren Fletcher? Excuse my ignorance but what's Darren been up to since he stopped playing? Serious question.
Probably not much, seeing as he only left Stoke last week.

What an absolutely mind boggling decision

Fletcher. :lol::lol::lol:

You just have to laugh at this point. If you don't, you'll cry.

He'll be a puppet for Woodward to move as much as he wants.

The club is doomed
You have to explain what puppet for Woodward means. Sorry for being ignorant but it gets thrown around a lot and I think people just say it for saying sake.

It'd be a ridiculous thing to do, we are in such a position of weakness, right now we need someone to take us by the scruff and tell us what we need to do to change things.

Ed is just surrounding himself with popular ex United players in the hope something sticks, or will at least soften the backlash when it doesn't.

This club is genuinely finished as long as these clowns are running the ship making these kinds of decisions.

At least with Ferdinand I could get the charisma and big personality side of it. Hell if we are so obsessed with ex players bring in Berbatov, at least he's qualified at a University level for this sort of role, not to mention his big personality.

What an absolute travesty of a decision this is if it goes ahead, dear me.

They have to be getting whispers in the ear from Fergie surely, he was his prodigal son after all, there's absolutely no way I can rationally think they sat down in a meeting room and came to the conclusion that Darren Fletcher would be best suited to this role, it's just untbinkable.

Planning a new gym extension for the academy requires a big personality?

Yeah Roma are where we currently are! 6th I believe. Not saying I think Fletcher is a good appointment. We do need a football business man though.

I'm generally in favour of diluting Woodward's influence on sporting matters with as many 'football people' as possible, but surely we should be looking for someone with bags of experience, a stellar address book filled with agents, coaches, CEOs and scouts, and a proven track record of successfully recruiting players for Champions League level clubs.

Fletcher would be an enormous gamble (another one, to go with the other enormous gamble we are already taking with the manager).

Yes but yet our manager doesn’t need to follow suit? Hypocrites at large.

There's ambassador's or corporate gigs for ex players.
You can't just throw an ex player into this gig, unless they've been doing it and excelling at it.

Although, ahem...when you think we seem to have done just that with the manager, that's more than a little awk.

It's sad to see so many of you get baited into thinking Woodward will actually appoint a top quality candidate for this role. If he gets someone in it will be exactly someone like Fletcher, a yes man while Ed at the end of the day will still have all the power. That's literally all Ed cares about. He is obsessed with having all the power in the current role he has and he is never going to give that away. If he was serious about getting one in he would have contacted someone like Mitchell for example. Stop letting these daft clowns make you believe we will ever hire a dof.

So our masterplan to get back to the top is to give every available job to our ex players. We got clueless manager, looks like we will have clueless DoF (technical director or whatever you call it) who all report to one clueless CEO. And we thought it couldn't get any worse...

So basically someone who is going to transfer requests from manager to Woodward for the latter to take the decision anyway while both the new technical director takes all the blame.:lol::lol:

We're a joke. DOF who has no experience. Manager with only relegation experience. Reliance on teenagers for the academy for success. And of course a guy deciding on transfers who also makes deals for noodle sponsorships.

So nothing is changing then? Just a different guy asking Woodward to buy us players.

Woodward still had the power and him and his men will still buy the players negotiate the deals. Useless prick. We are finished.

Woodward must have the biggest ego of all time. He can take himself out of the firing line by just going to the commercial side. We wouldn't lose any money. It would be best for all parties.

Yet he doesn't. The only reason is ego.

I think we are setting up a transfer committee, and a transfer guru was still supposed to be hired to be involved in that

Darren Fletcher is a wonderful choice. He bleeds Utd. A workaholic as a player and about the most genuine authentic human being on earth.

The reason why Monchi and Paul Mitchell become good technical directors/head of recruitments is because they never made a penny as failed footballers and need the cash. Monchi played for Seville so he should rightly stay at Seville where he belongs.

Any ex football can easily become a great technical director if their heart is fully in it, which I think Fletchers will be.

Yea, as predicted. Ever since we had this plane banner "Ed - specialist in failure" I think, he clearly wants to bring in people who will act as a shield and take all the blame. He thinks that ex players will save him because their mates in the media won't say a bad word against if we hired some of them. I think the complete opposite will happen and it's the beginning of his downfall (hopefully).

'Glue between the manager and board', that's not even a job.

Who is the 'transfer guru' then?
sounds like it will still be the manager. now we just have a middle man to make transfers take even longer. We can add a new step to our transfer sagas. United are preparing to prepare a list of targets to send to Fletcher, to send to Woodward.

Love Fletch but this makes no sense. The club is a right mess and we are in need of someone experienced, yet Woodward thinks Darren Fletcher is the right man for the job? Absolutely ridiculous.

I suspect Fergie has something to do with it. Ole, Phelan and now Darren Fletcher?
