Conte resigned from Juventus in 2014 after three consecutive Serie A titles.
He resigned from Inter three weeks after winning Serie A, because the club had plans to cut costs due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
In 2009 he resigned from Atalanta after fans confronted him because of bad results.
In 2006 he signed as Italy manager.
In 2016 with Italy NT he didn't resign, it was end of contract and he declined to renew to go to Chelsea.
In 2009 he also resigned from Bari mid-summer.

Marcello Lippi resigned from Juve in 1999, anticipating a possible sacking.
He also resigned from Inter at the end of the 1999/2000 season, but Moratti refused to let him go, and then sacked him few games into the following season.

Cesare Prandelli resigned from Fiorentina last season.

Gennaro Gattuso also resigned from Fiorentina a week after singing this summer.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
He'd be a moron to resign just to save your billionaire owners some money.

Different story if you were struggling for cash. I always hope the sacked Chelsea managers get a fat pay off.

Klopp, Tuchel, Rangnick and Favre come to mind. Maybe it is more common in the Bundesliga?
If I remember correctly Tuchel resigned at Mainz, because he wanted to move up and the reason that was given for Rangnick resigning the Schalke post was "burnout".

It's desperate fans wanting Ole to save them from the club's decision to extend his contract this summer, and the club's current inaction in sacking him.

It's unlikely Ole returns to manage at this level. He is well within his rights to keep on trying until his P45 gets issued. Along with the fat pay off.

Ole will never resign and nor should he, we gave him the contract. We have to relieve him of his duties which would have been done already if he weren't an ex-player.

Tuchel resigned from Mainz and Favre from Gladbach (the latter was after a bad run, but still early in the season, and after building Gladbach's most successful team in modern football).

We could also add Hansi Flick, who decided he couldn't be arsed to deal with our board any longer and rather became Bundestrainer.
Tuchel walked out on Mainz :smirk: Hence he didn’t work for a year after, they wouldn’t release him from his contract.

But yes, such as with Jürgen Klopp and Hansi Flick, seems quite a few of coaches in Germany leave clubs by their own initiative!

If Ole is sacked tomorrow wouldn't he take one of the biggest compensations out there? he's due more than 30m..

Cannot see Ole resigning. He has about £25-£30m on the line. It is one thing to be a Conte/Lippi and do it knowing you'll get another top job easily and another when you know it is highly unlikely you'll get another.

Paulo Fonseca resigned from his first big job at Porto. The chairman tried to convince to reconsider because he was young and the team was being rebuilt, but he just left.

THis could be (most likely, will be) his last big fat paycheck.

He's done. No other top club will hire him after this.

Wouldn't blame him at all for doing it.

But i certainly wont say he so loved the club. He doesnt love us as much as the money.

Again, understandable. I would do so in his position.

I can’t believe this sub. You guys honestly want Ten Hag over a coach that has won a league title with every team he has been in charge of?
Conte is not only a serial winner but also PL proven. Apart from the 18-19 CL run, Ten Hag hasn’t really done much. Winning the Eredivisie is not an achievement imo. It’s like Bundesliga which Bayern are almost guaranteed to win and Serie A before Conte came back and shook up the whole status quo.
