Inspired by TomClare's recent posts, here are the highlights of two of Utd's games at the end of the 1956-57 season. It's fascinating to see some of the players Tom was taking about in action.

From Wikipedia:

Substitutions during English league matches were first permitted in the 1965-66 season. During the first two seasons after the law was introduced, each side was permitted only one substitution during a game. Moreover the substitute could only replace an injured player. From the 1967-68 season, this rule was relaxed to allow substitutions for tactical reasons.

So I guess they didn't have subs in '57. Shame O'Shea wasn't playing...

Indeed, I don't know why they don't let just short clips of goals on the net, it's not like they replace the real live games.. If anything, it's a good marketing 'tool' imo.
