I think we will see the same team except for Smalling replacing Carrick, Darmian and Martial to come off the bench.

Going with a 2 nil or 2-1 win. Rashford and Depay.

Think it'd be cruel to drop Lingard for Martial, he and Varela are a very good combination, both of Rashford's goals came from the right with the pair getting an assist. Lingard's defensive work rate is excellent too.

When Martial is available you play him. We shouldn't forget he's been one of the few positives for a fair while.
Have to bear in mind a lot of players have played 2 games in 4 days already, so another 3 days on, with another at the weekend is a jammed programme.

Darmian being back is an unexpected bonus. Just hope he can refind the early season form.

I only see Carrick being replaced by Smalling. Martial maybe come off the bench if needed. May as well give him a further rest.

I think it depends o how tired Rashford was after the Arsenal game, he looked out on his feet when he came off, for him to play 3 games in less than a week at 18 with no senior football to his name until last Thursday is a big ask.

Totally agree. It is a double edged sword. Replace him, may knock him as he is young. Play him, he may get an injury, or be ineffective through tiredness, again knocking him. If he plays, hope he has a blinder.

Didn't say Martial shouldn't get back in the squad, just that Martial shouldn't replace Lingard. I fully agree, Martial needs to start, not sure who should be dropped though, our front 4 these last two games has been another level to what we've been for the rest of the season! Maybe Rashford/Mata should have a rest, Rashford's (although dropping him in this form would be mad) only a kid and Mata's played basically every game he's been fit this season.

Harsh on Mata, but I'd love to see all that pace.

Agreed on Martial, he's gotta play if he's fit.

But I'd rather see Varela carry on over Darmian. He's made our right sided attack come alive with his contribution.

Not sure if i would like to see Martial in that position personally. You think he has the skill set for that?

If Martial is fit I'm certain it will be Rashford getting dropped. He came of knackered towards the end of the match and LVG talks about wanting to rotate but not having the options.

    For me:
    de Gea
    Varela - Smalling - Blind - Rojo
    Carrick - Schneiderlin
    Lingard - Mata - Memphis
    Martial
    Subs:
    Rashford for Martial
    Darmian for Rojo
Herrera or maybe Fellaini for whoever is struggling or needs a rest in the midfield 2.

Martial must be close to being match fit if we're starting Janujaz and Pereira in the U-21's on Monday. Because otherwise we are quite short on options to sub anyone from the front four for any significant amount of minutes.

We also don't want to rush Martial back in.

Hope Smalling, Martial and Darmian are fit. We need to rotate players with a lot of games coming up in a short period of time. Don't want Varela or Rashford to play 3 (almost) full games in 7 days.

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Rojo
    Schneiderlin Herrera
    Januzaj Mata Depay
    Martial
Lingard needs a rest too. Looked pretty spent the last game.

    Will win this 2-1.[/QUOTE

It would be a little weird of you were so excited about this game 4 months ago...

Its incredible how much excited I'm for this seemingly meaningless match.

Excited for Varela and Rashford to further solidify their first team statuses, for the potential debut for TFM, for Memphis to build on his good form.

Hopefully the team won't let down!

Hope to see the same team as Sunday (Although I wouldn't blame Louis for bringing Smalling back in for Carrick to deal with the direct threat of Deeney & Ighalo)

TFM in for Rojo if he's not fit.

No one deserves to be dropped after that performance.

Martial on for Rashford after an Hour. Adnan on for Lingard. Darmian on for Varela.

Hope Memphis can get a goal to help keep his confidence high.

Not sure if we will start Rashford or not, but he clearly deserves it. I'd hope we give him the chance. Would prefer Martial over Lingard if he is fit to start, though I think we might see Depay on the left with Lingard on the right and Martial/Rashford up front.

Why would you not like to see Mata, Varela or Rashford start?

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Was it Sir Alex who once said "a smart manager would never bench an in form striker"?

So yes, LvG will definitely bench him. Just for the sake of being LvG
The problem is how tired he looked when he came off against Arsenal. With his youth and inexperience, it's such a huge step up from what he's used to. Will he be able to stay at the same level for the third game in one week, or does he need an extra few days? I'm guessing the latter.

    Rashford has to start.

I wouldn't drop Valera for Darmian either. If Rojo isn't fit Darmian can play left back.

Although that's the team everyone wants to see, If Martial is fit, I'd personally bench Rashford for tonight and maybe give him the final 25 mins..

He does not need this level of exposure and also has already played 2 games in very few days.

I agree that players should be allowed to continue their good form, but I don't think this kid can play 3 games in 6 days yet. He looked very tired before he was subbed in the Arsenal game.

Anyway, I am hoping for a TFM start, why else would he be left out of the u21 squad completely?

Yeah, I think he'll start as well. Can see Darmian being on the bench with Varela and Fosu-Mensah both starting. It'd be very exciting.

From what has been said he's a level headed young man, but of course this last week would be unlike anything he's experienced before. Hopefully he understands being benched is for his own good and dare I say it part of the process of development. I imagine LvG will still try to get him 25 minutes.
