Pogba holds the ball up and controls it better than Bruno. Having him centrally gives us hold up play that is non existent otherwise. Keeps Pogba as a central creator which suits his skill set. Bruno is more of a direct creator, loves pumping balls into the box, has good off the ball movement. And is a great crosser. Works for his skillset more to be wide than Pogba as a roaming wide forward essentially. And Bruno has a lot more pace than Pogba

It suits them individually but it suits us less. Pogba is really not a great goal threat, even though he makes us play better but we are practically replacing left forward with Bruno and taking away goal threat by playing Pogba in Bruno's position.

It's not a coincidence we haven't scored so far, we are practically without a goal threat up front except Ronaldo.

The two things I'm taking from this first half is how much of a relief it is to our build up play to have Varane and Lindelof as a centre back pairing. And having Matic in there (when he's fresh enough). It massively improves our tempo.

I guess I'm guilty of trying to see the merits in Fred and McTominay a lot, and I like them both, but as squad players. Matic, when on form is a million miles better player than either.

We simply have to start next season without Maguire in the first XI and we need two new midfielders.
