A Alien invasion.
United wont be playing this particular way until we have 1. A manager who clearly has a distinct idea of how he wants his players to perform and 2. players who are technically sound but put in the graft, with and without the ball.

I'd love we go with a progressive young manager like this who is a great coach first and foremost. Fed up of going for big name managers and big name players who look like they don't do anything in training.

1 is a tautology
2 again, we have a young squad that is waiting to be developed by someone who knows what he's doing

Completely agree.

People get too hung up on supposed world class managers and forget that coaching players/teams, is a idea which needs implementing. The ideology is what's important and something we should prioritise IMO.

So if Ole was sacked, who would be your preference to replace him?
I’ll bow to your better judgement. But I desperately don’t want Poch. I don’t think he has the winners instinct and he is perhaps on the way down.

we want whoever is Poch pre Spurs. My doubt with Nagelsman or Rose is age and life experience: will they be able to thrive In a new country and league, under the microscopic pressure of Old Trafford and the rabid nature of our digital fans?

If either is that good, best is to hire as a coach and have a planned handover with OGS, as he moves up to a DOF position. Perfect combination of latest coaching skills and someone who can manage the PR and politics. I wouldn’t want either young coach to own the DNA of the club.

I'm still laughing at the time he decided to judge Nagalsmann on one game

Imagine if someone were to just draw every conclusion on Ole from the Tottenham game for example. Jesus wept.
The problem with your argument is had RedBull won that CL semi final through a pure Nagelsmann philosophy performance, you would have used that one game alone as evidence of his mastery and ability.

Works both ways I’m afraid.

Also not sure what Jesus has to do with anything!

He adopts a variety of systems depending on the opposition. But no matter what the system, he still wants to impose his style on the opposition.
Yeah, actually I was speaking in favor of him. Would be perfect for us that he plays a diamond and would suit us.

No I wouldn't, because I and most others don't use stupid logic by judging a manager from one game. I started the Nagelsmann watch thread long before he became RB Leipzig manager.

There's no guarantee brother and I could also be wrong but I feel we should go for someone who has the right idea as far as playing a expansive attacking play style goes.

So for me I wouldn't look past Nagelsmann or Rose because I want their ideas implemented on the training ground which inturn would see those ideas potentially manifest on match days..

Calm down son, no one thinks as stupidly as you have when judging a manager.
What are your qualifications on judging how I judge a manager? I’d say it’s you who is stupid as you can’t make me think what you want me to.

It sounds like they implement what Ole is trying to, so there shouldn’t be any conflict between either of them as coach and OGS as DOF?

I honestly don't care about us not winning titles as routinely like we used to.

However, I personally enjoy the tactical aspect of football as the entertainment. It can be very scientific and that's why I'm interested in Nagelsmann & Rose.

Whilst the footballing was not fast and entertaining, it's why I still have a soft spot for Van Gaal's tactical team play.

You judge a manager from one game, that is stupidity. You can disagree, of course but I don't really give a shit.

You obviously do, my view on this obviously triggers you a great deal.
Else you wouldn't have dragged me into this conversation when I wasn't even involved

I believe a number of people could be the Sporting director, as long as they stick to signing players that suit a coach who wants to implement fast transitions/high pressure.

Spot on. All our recent managers have been obsessed with throwing money around and building their own team. This was all to hide behind their inadequacies to coach players and improve them via modern day coaching methods. Ole is a very poor coach imo but has made some positive changes in a managerial sense.

Our Board clearly aren't willing to just keep spending hundreds of millions every summer so it would be in their best interests to hire a really top, modern, progressive coach to improve what we have.

I think it would be a massive waste to dispose all the knowledge and experience OGS has from his time at the club and also gained as manager. I dont want some fancy hipster DoF who has zero connection with the club to be empowered to shape its future.

So it wasn't me that mentioned you, rather I replied to a post about someone else mentioning you, which "triggered" a laughable post you made before. Good one.

Would certainly be an exciting system given the players we have!

What is it exactly that Ole is trying to implement? You seem to be the only one able to see it

I would be up for him taking over here, but this coach is simply far too left field for United and doesn't have enough of a 'name'.

We're gonna wait until December before Ole is fired after we're out of the CL at the group stage and languishing in 10th in the PL, then we'll appoint Pochettino and still refuse to bring in a DoF.

We literally cannot see beyond the obvious.

Am I missing something here? Gladbach haven't really got off to a great start this season so far, why the clamour for this guy again all of a sudden?

Maybe because he is a fantastic coach

If you're going to play a diamond, you have to play van de Beek as the furthest forward midfielder as more often than not he'll end being the center forward when the two wide forwards provide width. Bruno is much better off a little deeper with time and space to pick passes.

I think he deserves a thread on here.

He's a 43 year old German coach who has thus far excelled at both RB Salzburg and currently at Borussia
Mönchengladbach in the German Bundesliga where he has them top of the league, punching way above their weight.

When Mourinho was sacked, Rose was someone I was quite vocal about (United) giving the job to, for his work at RB Salzburg where he implemented a fast and fluid strategy very similar to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool which was very pleasing on the eye. Currently he's taken that on and has Gladbach 3pts clear in the German Bundesliga. Rose was reported to be on our 5 man shortlist to replace Mourinho per Neil Ashton who presents the Sunday Supplement on Sky.

It'll be interesting to see how he does for the remainder of the season and we can hopefully charter his progress with Gladbach in this thread.
Good initial post in his favour. But would he come here, when we don't have a director of football?

No way will he be appointed. Hasn't got the fancy name. He needs to win something or play in the CL knockout stages to be on our radar

Maybe, but as I say, Gladbach have had a relatively slow start, not playing to their potential in this early season, is it not best to look subjectively and weigh up how good a coach he is by seeing how he does this season?

I think its best to way up his whole career. Also a slow start doesn't mean they wont have a good season

Liverpool lost by 7-2 against Villa. I think Rose should take over from Klopp.

A DOF is in charge of transfer negotiations, and transfer strategy overall. You need someone not only with a brilliant footballing mind, but a business mind too. Not sure if Ole is the best man for the job.

For now I would back Ole as a manger, get a specialist professional DOF in, and get Ole better tactical coach than Michael Carrick.

If that fails, sack Ole, and get someone like Rose/Nagellsman and their coaching team in.

Very true, but last season they got off to a good start and faded slightly. They do the same this season without a good start then it won't be as good a season.
Their results against the likes of Dortmund and Berlin compared to last season are poor.
What constitutes a successful season for Gladbach now though? Champions League qualification again? A trophy?

Usually happens when a team is over performing to the talent in the squad.
Seems to me you are overreating to a few poor results at the start of the season and not beating Dortmund is never a poor result, one could say Liverpool getting trashed 7-2 by Villa compared to last season is poor too.
If they make UCL again they have done fantastic
