Why this season in particular though? Why not last season? And why would he need to be judged by one and only one season?I maintain my original point, that this is the season that he needs to be judged on.
Compared to results last season Gladbach are behind already.
Yeah, it's definitely to early to make any judgements for this season, you're right. Why this season in particular though? Why not last season? And why would he need to be judged by one and only one season?
Also, talking about inarguable facts, surely you'll agree that it's too early to say anything about this season?
Edit: I don't actually watch Gladbach, I am just following this thread. So I'm just interested in the arguments, I'm not trying to argue either way myself.
Thanks. Sounds fair enough to me. We'll see how it goes, then.Yeah, it's definitely to early to make any judgements for this season, you're right.
I say this season as he has had a season to build his team, tactics and really stamp his authority and coaching style on this team. I'm not saying just this season, but surely you'd want to be looking for improvements?
Unless I'm wrong he hasn't been at a team for longer than a couple of seasons, hence the reason I believe this is the season to judge.
In football you're constantly being judged which is normal tbf.Likewise.
I've got shut down numerous times on this thread so far for having a different opinion from others, many if whom have given no input to the discussion themselves.
I maintain my original point, that this is the season that he needs to be judged on.

That's a point that no one can argue.
Yeah, will be interesting to see how they set up in the Champions League. In football you're constantly being judged which is normal tbf.
I'm personally looking forward to see how he sets up his team against Conte and Zidane in the UCL group stage. It'll be interesting to see if he can navigate his team through that group which will be tough and he's thus far been without a key member of his team in Denis Zakaria through injury.
I for one will be rooting for him because he's a coach that wants to attack with the ball and with out the ball. There's a method to his madness that I really like and I hope he fulfils his potential because he's a superb coach in the making.
Yeah, one things for sure though, managers seem to be getting younger and have brighter ideas then the previous generation, which can only be a good thing! Thanks. Sounds fair enough to me. We'll see how it goes, then.
I would with out hesitation have him over Poch. Because for me football is about being entertained too and the ideas that Rose has implemented in his career thus far, are a joy to witness.Yeah, will be interesting to see how they set up in the Champions League.
Would you have him at United over an 'established' manager, say someone like Poch this season?
‘The next Liverpool’I would with out hesitation have him over Poch. Because for me football is about being entertained too and the ideas that Rose has implemented in his career thus far, are a joy to witness.
I just hope we don't appoint Allegri because then I fear we will become the next Liverpool because he's a cowardly coach.
The pre Klopp version..‘The next Liverpool’
So European and league champions???
They will bomb. I've seen this play out many times. First CL season for Rose and half their squad, including key players, such as the French connection or Neuhaus, Zakaria, etc. Two big names with Real and Inter, even Donezk is a regular and won't be an easy fixture. Even if Rose gets his stuff right they will show too much respect or nerves in crucial moments. Corona schedule won't help them either. In football you're constantly being judged which is normal tbf.

It's gonna be interesting regardless and most will be expecting Real Madrid and Inter to go through. But if Gladbach get a good start then anything is possible. And even Donezk will be a tough game like you say. But I'm really looking forward to the games and hope nerves can be controlled. They will bomb. I've seen this play out many times. Good god I'm with you there.I would with out hesitation have him over Poch. Because for me football is about being entertained too and the ideas that Rose has implemented in his career thus far, are a joy to witness.

Domestic trophy is a big ask though. Anything is possible in the cup of course, but Dortmund and especially Bayern are just so strong... I don't think you could hold it too much against Rose if he'd crash out against either of those - depending on the way it happens, of course. But that's the Catch 22, isn't!Good god I'm with you there.
A pragmatic coach is definitely not what we need.
If Rose can lead Gladbach to greater heights this season, I'm talking a domestic trophy and Champions League places again, then I would seriously consider him for the United job.
Dissapointing? They drew against Wolfsburg who are still unbeaten in the league and I rarely bump this thread.Strange this thread hasnt been bumped?
Another disappointing result at home.
Who they beat convincingly last season,Dissapointing? They drew against Wolfsburg who are still unbeaten in the league and I rarely bump this thread.
Only just seen this discussion.Who they beat convincingly last season,
No,Only just seen this discussion.
This is really clutching at straws. Are you seriously taking two individual results and trying to draw conclusions from them?
They beat plenty of teams convincingly last season and also went toe to toe with the best team in Europe (Bayern) and won. And he's coaching a team/club that is the equivalent of Everton in Germany and he's up against bigger budgets and excellent coaches in Flick, Favre, Nagelsmann, Bosz etc who are all proactive coaches and implement a attacking game plan.Who they beat convincingly last season,
And also, Wolfsburg haven't actually won a game this season.
I think he would challenge for the league in two years with the financial backing he would get at United over Gladbach. And I truly believe that he would have us playing high tempo, high pressure football in his first season at the club. Why I think that is because when he took over at Gladbach his predecessor (Dieter Hecking) played a pragmatic style and he (Rose) came in and had the team playing a high tempo game with quick transitions with the team pressing high and hunting in packs after the forwards had triggered the press. So basically Gladbach went from moving the ball at a slow pace from side to side under Hecking to playing high tempo football with the emphasis on verticality at lightening speed under Rose.According to TransferMarkt. Total squad values are:
£282m = Borussia Mönchengladbach. Most valued player = £36m, Denis Zakaria
£720m = Manchester United. Most valued player(s) = £72m, Pogba, Rashford, Fernandes.
United have 3 players worth twice as much as Gladbach's best. So the question is What would Marco Rose do with our squad?
Ok.They beat plenty of teams convincingly last season and also went toe to toe with the best team in Europe (Bayern) and won. And he's coaching a team/club that is the equivalent of Everton in Germany and he's up against bigger budgets and excellent coaches in Flick, Favre, Nagelsmann, Bosz etc who are all proactive coaches and implement a attacking game plan.
There's a difference between last season and the current season.Ok.
Not quite sure what that has to with my points
Now I love Ole and I'm not in the Ole out camp and think he should be afforded some time based on last season's finish. However I do wonder if he's the right man long term.I think he would challenge for the league in two years with the financial backing he would get at United over Gladbach. And I truly believe that he would have us playing high tempo, high pressure football in his first season at the club. And it took him one preseason to implement his ideas. And without enraging certain posters on here, Ole hasn't come close to doing that in almost 2 years at the club with a far bigger budget.
Yup,There's a difference between last season and the current season.
This season affected by Covid has barely got going and he's without a key player too.Yup,
They haven't been as good this season, that's the difference.
Yup, covid has affected other teams too. This season affected by Covid has barely got going and he's without a key player too.
It could've been a better start but you seem to be digging into things you have little knowledge about. I'm not saying he's a guarantee for success but for me he's a better fit stylistically than anyone we've given the job to post Fergie.Yup, covid has affected other teams too.
Cannot refute that the start they have had has been mixed, and no where near as good as last season.
Agree. Liked what he did at Salzburg too. Got them playing exciting stuff.Rose is a very very exciting option for any club. I would prefer him to Poch. No doubt about him getting is playing good football in a short time.
Agree Ole won't change this teams playing style and won't evolve his style to get us playing exciting stuff.Agree. Liked what he did at Salzburg too. Got them playing exciting stuff.
I've no doubt he's being watched by a host of top clubs but seeing as all except Barca appear to have long term appointments, we have to be in the running if the Glazers decide Ole has taken as far as he can
Not sure about the last part. There are times including yesterday where the build up and finish has been as exciting as anything I've seen in the PL this season...Bruno's especiallyAgree Ole won't change this teams playing style and won't evolve his style to get us playing exciting stuff.
Yeah we've scored some absolutely sumptuous team goals under Solskjaer, Fernandes against Brighton and Martial's 3rd against Sheffield United spring to mind. Not sure about the last part. There are times including yesterday where the build up and finish has been as exciting as anything I've seen in the PL this season...Bruno's especially
Yes we did that yesterday as Newcastle just gave up after Bruno scored. They were out of gas and we had all the space we wanted. But Ole has been here almost two years and we are neither consistent nor do we have a clear pattern or style. Anything is better than LVG and what Mourinho offered though. Not sure about the last part. There are times including yesterday where the build up and finish has been as exciting as anything I've seen in the PL this season...Bruno's especially
Haven't we been down the proven winner route?I get the clamour to be ahead of the curve and get the next Klopp or the next Pep but you'd think since the phrase 'hipster' became a thing people would stop hyping managers who haven't really done anything in the game to be the next Man Utd manager.
It doesn't matter how innovative some of these new coaches may be you have to have a certain pedigree to handle managing one of the biggest clubs in the world (even more so when the team is like it is at the moment)
Our next manager has to tick all the boxes and one of them is being a proven winner. Only one who springs to my mind as being a possible is Tuchel and I have massive doubts about him as well given he didn't win at Dortmund and you can point to even Emery winning with PSG
