Marcus Rashford - Linked to PSG

I don’t want to see him go. A year under ETH, without the shackles of a chronic injury, and we’ll have a very clear idea of whether he is worth keeping.

I can’t remember who it was but there was at least one poster in this forum who swore Rashford was already better than Giggs ever was and would have a better career. Clear BS but when he was playing well, he did get some of us excited.

What’s the point in selling them when have inept people like Murtough in charge of transfers. Any big fee we received would be completely irrelevant as it would just be pissed away on dross.

Would be mental to sell. We have no attackers and one of them is 38 years old and wants to leave. Could have made sense if we were in a better place but all of our attackers are basically indispensable right now. Concerned to see the links hotting up.

He should stay if only because of the state of the squad, but i also can't help feeling that it smells like an attempt at misdirection and PR by the club, maybe even with a new contract, definitely don't think they expected the online reaction to be happy to sell him.

Assuming the theory is true it would just show how out of touch they are not only with the football (lets be honest he is/has been dogshit) but also the fans.

He’s the most abused player - a very large portion of that abuse comes from United fans.

To be fair, United are probably too tight to invest in any social listening tool so they might be totally clueless on that front.

It is mental that some posters here considers Rashford not for sell, sentimentalism has blinded people. He clearly is a liability and we are making a steal if PSG spends anything more than 60M to buy him. Any wingers with market value of 60M plus are better than Rashford. No one with a sane mind can dispute that.

Does he? Only know about his side job as Mendes puppet, but if so then fair enough
Yeah, think there might be some gestifute links or something. Either way, it will only be coming from someone who's told one side.

So after all the shit Pogba and Ronaldo got about looking to leave, will there be the same energy here?
More than half the fans in here want to sell him though so not sure where the outrage would come from

Sounds like he's trying to get us to offer him a long term contract which United should not do under any circumstances. Need at least 6 months to see if he can improve before we even think of triggering his additional year.

Also, can't help himself eh? After the shit performances with the rest of the team from last season, you would think he'd get his head down and actually work hard to be better, but no, his ego is more important.

Would sell him now if there is an offer. Nobody in the team should be rewarded unless they earn the privilege with great performances imho.

Also, for his sake, he better perform well today. Play like shit and I reckon United's social media fans will let him have it, after these shitty transfer talks.

Knowing Southgate if he moves to France and scores a couple of goals he will be back in the squad for the World Cup.

Then great for them. No worries from me. More concerned with what he's giving (or not giving) to United. Couldn't even wait for us to settle down in this new season with a new manager, before all this mess. Still think he's trying to pressure us into giving an undeserved contract, which United should not do. We do that, and there will be no motivation from him to do better. Make him work for it.

Nah, Southgate doesn't care if you play outside the prem. How Coady was playing ahead of Tomori tells you all you need to know.

Yea he doesn't seem to rate the players plying their trade abroad half as much as domestic PL players

I think this will tell us a lot about the 'new' running of the club, even more so than the transfers.

We don't have CL football and have a new manager with Murtough etc newly in place, so I could accept that there may be teething problems and we are at the start of a project.

We haven't done a good job at selling players yet, although again I can accept it is difficult to shift deadwood that the club have, in the past, massively overpaid.

But if we keep giving monster contracts to underperforming players, that will be the clearest sign that nothing has changed. That would be unforgiveable.

Ha, yes! His utterly bizarre selection criteria completely slipped my mind for a moment.

I see he is working on his 300k per week contract already.

Would love to sell him to PSG though if they offer anywhere in the region of 80m. Definitely good business for us.

If PSG have offered any sort of money that's quoted then those in charge should be sacked if they don't accept it.

Was just thinking about how Liverpool sold Sane and moved in.

Did the same w Sterling.

They'd have cashed in on Rashford much earlier

Don't you dare say that about Troy Deeney :nono:

With the two best managers in world football and their respective clubs being run as far better establishments compared to United with a weaker squad than last season by default ? Those two situations are not even comparable in the slightest.

United by reason should sell both Rashford and Ronaldo if the players want to leave. The reality is the club is struggling for signings with these players here. With them potentially leaving for example who in their right mind would trust Murtough and even ETH to some extent with identifying the right replacements when the club goes from the likes of Pogba to Rabiot.

Part of me thinks for his own good he should go to PSG for a fresh start in a competent team, also in an easier league sure but he could rediscover himself there and probably get back on track as a footballer. We're a disaster and who knows what this season will look like. I hope he stays and rediscovers his form here, but we'll see.

Mate, he wouldn't get a game in at PSG. He's a substitute at best, it would be the stupidest move for all parties involved.

Off you go pal thanks for 6 years service, had moments at this club but clearly can't be bothered anymore so get someone who cares

Sterling is actually good at what he does though, brand or no brand.

Maybe I’m old but I can’t see how anyone can be a brand when they’re so unbelievably sh*t at what they do. Football is so fecked up.
MBE title counts toward brand.

Great, and how does that help us?

I reiterate, football is fecked up.
Only tried to answer your concern "I can’t see how anyone can be a brand when they’re so unbelievably sh*t at what they do".

It's not only football. It's mad commercialism sport wash. Can happen to anything popular, with businessmen gathering trying to get a cut.

Referring to Sterling being sold by Liverpool before they became what they are today. Actually very comparable scenarios in many ways

Exactly. Sentiment is the reason we kept duds like Lingard, Jones, Mata etc in team for so long when in actual they should have been sold a long time ago.

Appalling attitude, demeanor and play for years now. Just get rid of him. At this point, even the youngsters would show more.

Sorry but how the hell do posters still value him around 50 millions? We should be happy selling him for 20.
The guy is done at top level. He is not that talented and he doesn't have the mentality either.
