Matheus Cunha £62.5m release clause | Not a striker

If by some miracle we can sign one of the. viktor’s of Osimhen or Gykores, Brian Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha for £175m .

Then sell HOJLUND, Rashford, Antony and Sancho for £135m so £40m net cost and possibly even save £100k per week on wages then INEOS will have my love again, because that’s the sort of front three that a team like Man United should have, with Zirkzee, Garnaucho and Mount/Amad as Back up.

Hell I don’t even mind if we keep Casemiro and Onana if we get those three of those 4 attacking strikers. Only then will this team start to scare opposing teams again!
That is not a 40M net cost though. We still owe money on Hojlund, Antony and Sancho as they were purchased on instalments and so the net would be closer to 140M and that is before we get into the fact that raising 135M in combined fees for those 4 at this point is practically science fiction.

We need goals, even if we get a number 9 like Gyokeres the 10s needs to do better. Having Cunha in one of those 10 roles helps. Having him, Amad, Bruno and a 9 in the same team will go a long way.

This one seems like it's happening then. Will probably be our first signing of the Summer. Curious if we pay the full 62.5M release clause for him or if we can negotiate it down..

I do think he's a good player and would get behind him. I think his attitude towards the club paying his wages has been really disrespectful and that's disappointing.

We will see, if the choice is him and Delap or a top striker and a cheaper number 10 then I would have preferred a top striker.

You’d have to question the motivation of someone wanting to move from a club on the up, with a dynamic young manager, to risk getting relegated with us next season.

This can't be serious?

He would be a good signing and could allow the club to gamble on a young striker.

Wow, looks like this is happening then. Amorim must really want him, I’m surprised we’re using such a massive chunk of our budget on him.

We will likely negotiate a fee slightly above his release clause so we can structure the payment over several years imo.

What's this about?

He's probably one of the best players in the league outside of the top 6 teams. We've really lacked someone with his qualities and he instantly levels up our attack. We need a striker but it's hard to be anything other than happy with this.

He will bring more passion and desire than Rashford, Mount, Hojlund and Garnacho combined - all of whom seem to be lukewarm on the pitch at best. Get a clinical striker and we are in business.

Cunha and Osimhen would solve a lot of our goalscoring issues... Hopefully it can be done without selling Garna too, and we can put out something like:
Osimhen
Cunha Amad
Dorgu Ugarte Bruno Dalot
Martinez/Yoro De Ligt Mazraoui
GK

Zirkzee
Mount Garnacho
Amass Casemiro Mainoo RWB
Heaven Maguire Yoro/Fredricson
GK

Add a RWB and replace Onana and I'd feel quite confident that we can be a genuinely good team.

And yet he's the player spending the most time walking

It was a surprising stat when that one came out.

But you can hav a team of headless chicken running around for 90 minutes and still lose every week.

So I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the walking stat.

This is generally where he ends up a Chelsea player by the end of the week.

Really excited about this one. Think too many are underrating his actual quality as an attacker. He's not going to come in and bang in 20 goals a season but he's the type of floor raising type attacker that will help elevate the entire team and it's not going to be some "oh let him get acclimated blah blah" type signing.

Big time upgrade over Garnacho in that spot.

Clearly a mercenary

If we go for 2 forwards with release clauses both deals better be done early in the window

Would be lovely to get early business done

I really really hope we don’t do what we’ve done the last 5+ summers though and overcomplicate things for ourselves. We need a striker. A goalscoring striker.

If Cunha is true then there is not a chance we are getting Osimhen as well. I think Cunha and Delap is the plan and I am not entirely certain what we do if we don't get Delap as we seem to be putting all of our eggs in that basket.

Why should we not be able to get Osimhen too? We should. Delap is average

We still have wingbacks who can't attack

Perfect for that left 10 role Garnacho plays. Can drop deep to get on the ball, carry, pass, cross, play on the counter and it tight situations, run behind defences. He'll be that go to man that Garnacho fancies himself as.

I think he'd be a brilliant signing. Just as much a scorer as a creator. We need more players that can take defenders on and beat them and in tandem with Amad they could do damage. He has the look of a man that thinks he was born to play at Old Trafford and the perfect age of an attacker coming into his prime.

Wow - sounds like this sounds more on than I thought.
He fits the position perfectly so I’m all for it.

Well budget for one thing. we know we don't have a massive amount to spend and Cunha plus Osimhen is around 135M which we probably cannot afford without outgoings. More specifically, Osimhen is supposedly Saudi bound as confirmed by Ornstein and we are known to be actively pursuing Delap which we would not be doing if we were going for someone like Osimhen.
