Highs and lows in the season, in the end it's a good season. Will be interesting to see how they cope without Hazard next season.

Loftus Cheek should be week in week out regular next season in the middle three. Needs to stay fit but was looking pretty good in the last 5-6 games. Can see him starting the europa final.

[QUOTE="haram, post: 24138073, member: The disrespect he gets is stupid.[/QUOTE] So too the disrepect on here for Chelsea players, past and present, who've been accused of downing tools and turning up when they feel likt it. Facts prove the opposite! In seasons which they've struggled and been off the pace, had managers sacked mid season or had problems with the manager and board, they still won a CL, Europa League, FA Cup, reached finals and qualified for the CL. That's the record of triers, not a bunch of primadonnas.

RLC coming into the team has solved a lot of issues - he's easily the best option at the left sided 8. Full credit to him, his defensive and off-ball shortcomings have been addressed for the most part as the season has gone along. There's also the simple fact of goal contributions:

RLC: 1702 minutes, 10 goals + 5 assists
Barkley: 2034 minutes, 7 goals + 6 assists
Kovacic: 2583 minutes, 0 goals + 2 assists

Feel for him. Forced to fly the team out for a pointless friendly before a cup final and RLC gets injured.

Why didn’t somebody arrange it after the Europa league final or for pre season? @duffer

No idea. Post season friendlies are ridiculous. Have it as part of the pre-season and the charity would've raised just as much.

Green has now left Chelsea and retired from football.

He's now reflected on his time at Chelsea during an interview with the Athletic.

And Green has revealed a brilliant story of the time he confronted Maurizio Sarri in the dressing room after one of the games.

“The lads put their hands up and said, ‘We care a lot’ but they spoke without saying very much,” Green reveals. “I was thinking to myself, ‘I can’t have this’.

“I turned to Sarri and said, ‘Look, you are in a really difficult position and I understand that because there is stuff going on at this club that I can see, you can see and no one on the outside can see, so I get you’ but all the while I was thinking, ‘I’m going to give him both barrels in a minute’.

“I just spelled it out. I told him, ‘You have no plan B. You’re a transactional kind of manager. The players in the group are not the kind to speak to you like this — they care very much but are scared to say something to you, like I am. I don’t care because what are you going to do — drop me!?’"

Green revealed his speech went down very well with both staff and his teammates.

“I spoke for 15 minutes," he continued. "A lot of players said afterwards that they enjoyed me saying that: ‘You said what I wanted to say but I couldn’t say it’.

"Obviously, if they had, it could have affected their place in the team or their future at the club.

“Two of the assistant coaches, Gianfranco Zola and Carlo Cudicini, said something along the lines of, ‘That was brilliant. We’ve been trying but we are in a compromised position as well in that it is a very hierarchical style and there isn’t a lot of feedback coming in return’."

Green also revealed how Sarri reacted to his actions.

“How did Sarri take it?" he added. "We were all walking out of the room at the end and he was standing at the door.

"I was thinking, ‘Oh feck, I’m dead’ but he shook my hand and said, ‘Thank you, that’s the first time anyone has made me think at a meeting’."

But Green was left disappointed with the impact of his speech.

"The thing is, it didn’t change anything," he concluded.

I'm going to have to take Green's word for that as I have no recollection of him being at Chelsea.
