Was reading about the Quebec biker wars during the 90s and early 2000s. That was some wild shit.
Suddenly SOA didn't seem unrealistic at all.

Really enjoyed SOA, the first few seasons were excellent. It was ridiculous at times towards the end but I still enjoyed it even though it was trash really. I’ll definitely give this a go though.

Gave up on SOA I must admit. Became awfully boring and the season in N.Ireland was beyond disgraceful.

Can't see this being my cup of tea either.

I read somewhere that Jaxx was based on some well known HA guy in California who always wore white sneakers.

Saw a biker gang documentary the other day, while SoA probably was based on the HA, these Mayans seems based on Mongols.

One or two IRL members of HA in SOA as well, plus some guest roles.

Absolutely loved SOA, apart from the Irish season which was crap. Hopefully this is as good

Really was shit wasn't it. I enjoyed it up to then but never got back into it and I think I stopped watching half way through the season after.

Yeah that about sums it up. Some ridiculous resolutions to story lines but it was always fun.

Ended up watching SOA in it's entirety when it was on but found the last couple of seasons absolutely awful. Not even sure why I stuck with it, so I really can't see myself watching this. That being said, I might keep an eye on this thread and if the reviews are positive I might give it a go.

Sorry to bump but is SOA worth starting? Just watched the first two episodes yesterday and thought it was brilliant but don't want to start watching it if it becomes crap after a few seasons - will feel like a waste of time like Lost was.

Yes baby. I have some high hopes for this. SOA was great but like people said the latter seasons sucked ass.

SOA started out alright but became garbage by season three but was entertaining nonetheless. I'll probably check out this Mayans spin-off just because I'm bored half the time and there's not much worth watching on tele these days.

Posters talking about reading up on stuff should check out this book/author.

William Queen was the DEA agent and he was there when that brawl broke out in a Vegas casino. His story has been on a few tv segments over the years. Should have a movie about this dude's undercover work.

This is an excellent book and I agree, should have been made into a movie. When they step away it never ends too, he will be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. Am I right in thinking he was the only UC ever to be patched?

Only movie I saw about an undercover in a biker gang was 'Beyond the Law'. A 1993 movie starring Charlie Sheen that is supposed to be a true story. The director said he wrote the script based on a playboy article in 81 about a guy called Dan black. Supposedly the only difference between the story and the movie is the time lapse in wish Dan got into the gang. I havent watched it since the 90s, but I remember it being good. Especially since it was a tv movie I believe.

I'd imagine you won't need to have seen it, there'll just be some references that go over your head but that's no big deal.

There was a box office flop starring Brian Bosworth going undercover in an MC. 'Stone Cold' and it was atrocious.

Oh yeah. Now that you mention it, I remember seeing the cover for that in blockbuster in the early 90s and thinking, nope. Which is weird, cos I watched some utter shit back then..

I'd have to disagree, season three was almost unwatchable if for no other reason than American actors trying god awful unintentionally hilarious Irish accents, but picked up again after that.

& what channel is it on in the UK?

I gave up on SOA towards the end of S5, but I'd be down for giving this a go.

SOA got unbelievably stupid towards the end. Not sure I can sit through this because of that.

The 'Ireland' storyline in SoA was laughable.

I'm 8 episodes in on the Mayans. Liking it. More brutal than SoA and they say the feck word a lot.

Looking for the answers...
Binged this in the last few days. I enjoyed it, and hope that there will be more of a connection with EZ / Angel in season 2.

I didn't feel any connection to many of the characters in the first season, and struggle to name any but the main 3-4. Definitely more violent than SoA and worth a watch.

The whole fire thing between seasons was done so bad. I've been wondering if I've somehow missed the final episode of s1 or something the whole time, wondering why the mother is scarred and they're talking about some fire. Seems like it played off the fires in real life but it's been explained terribly.
