Mitten is a good, hard-working journalist but he has never had an opinion so he's very boring. His informative articles are good but he's no Michael Cox. I've listened to Talk of the Devil, and everything is good at United all the time and all the players are good or need to be given time. In this case, Keegan comes out as a dick though.

Jesus don't get me started on Michael Cox. The guy is an imbecile at times.

His controversial at times but I like that. His knowledge is very high and he isn't afraid of opinions, which he should be giving credit for because he knows it will come back and bite him if he's wrong. Mitten isn't really saying anything of note, is he? "Solskjaer should be given time" "James should be given time" "Pereira should be given time" anyone can say that.

A good ol’ fashioned Fergie styled ban is required. Daily Mail can bugger off till they apologise.

United can do whatever the feck it wants with press passes. This is not elected office Mike Keegan you tw*t.

Mitten focuses on journalism and Cox enjoys going on podcasts and giving opinions (much of which tend to be tripe, so I wouldn't actually rate his knowledge as high as you claim).

Journalists don't all need to be opinionated, they can focus on reporting the football news, which Mitten does a fine job doing.

Besides, Mitten has no problem giving his occasional opinion, even if it can be divisive. For example - https://www.fourfourtwo.com/feature...gard-social-media-instagram-manchester-united

At a time where there was a lot of sympathy for Jesse (and fair enough), Mitten wasn't afraid to put out his opinion to say Jesse also was being an idiot on social media so he needs to be smarter than that. Mitten's foundations is based on opinion to be fair - he founded a fanzine at the age of 15. Now he's earned credibility and wants to focus on giving the news more. I like that.

i used to really like him.

Then he did a “Teams of the decade” series at the end of the 2010’s.

20 entries. Chilie are in there. Chelsea are in there. Klopp is in there, twice.

No space though for the Real Madrid team that won the Champions League in 2014, 2016, 2017 & 2018.... erm...

I even asked him why he didn’t include them and he ignored me.

Yeah absolutely, I have no problem with Mitten just reporting. I think he is doing a good job. But in the podcast it becomes quite dull when he seldom says anything of note. I think, in podcasts, you need to give an opinion on something and just don't play it safe. I don't really count that as an opinion of note, regarding Lingard. For example, he has defended all signings and all players to his death. Sometimes you just gotta say it. Nothing against Pereira as a person, but he isn't up to United standards. I've never heard Mitten say anything like that. To be fair, I can understand why because he'd like to keep a good relationship with United and the players, but still! Btw, I really respect Cox opinion. I don't always agree with him, but he can always stand by what he's saying.

Laughable list. He doesn't even have our treble winning team on there and the highest he has a SAF team is 7th.

Mitten has regularly asked questions at Ole’s press briefings recently and writes for the athletic so I’m unsure why he wouldn’t be given a press pass!?
Because he's from a lower journalistic caste of course! Duh!

OK so Mitten isn't a podcast type of journalist, but that's fine. My qualm with Cox is he's captain hindsight. He has a smug outlook to present his ideas like he knew that would be the case all along when really he talks a lot of shite.

Like when Ole came in and did well initially he said shit like "it's not hard all you need is love". Then when Ole did poorly he comes out with "it was never going to last you can see it".

He just changes his tune like the turn of the wind. The likes of Duncan Alexander do a good job of ignoring his tripe and moving on.

Agree with this. He also claims Roy Keane wasn't that good against Juventus in Turin '99.

So his main point of contention is that he works for a foreign-owned newspaper, as opposed to a UK one. That's a flimsy reason for a whinge at the best of times, but when you work for the Daily Mail you should really keep your mouth shut.

Isn’t Mitten more towards the investigative/analytical journalist rather than a sports writer?

He’s not the guy who will give you the reliable inside line of Utd‘s transfer strategy. He’s the guy who will write a two page article about how Ralph Milne wasn’t all that bad.
