Mitoma

his DRIBBLING WITH pace, he clearly can get rid of anyone...Yet he ain't that young and he plays too much with a basket cube over his head, Man Utd certainly doesn't need another player that rushes his plays. So I don't think he has to be a priority

Man Utd with dribblers would be better to bet with someone like Wirtz, already a star or bet with someone very very young like the Brazilian Estevao that Chelsea just bought. Both can fail, but Mitoma already isn't a bet for the future.
PD: I like him nonetheless and would be more than welcome if he does't come as a proirity, without a huge price tag over his head and gain his place without much pressure and become an asset.
The lad also has lots and lots of attitude and stamina. In similar terms, and laso Japanese, to snatch Endo from Liverpool won't be bad either.
I wouldnt recommend Mitoma due to age, cost and position.

The nearest role he would play in Amorims system is wingback. But he lacks defensive skills and physicality.

I wouldn’t go that far.

He’s technically more cute in tight spaces than what we have (bar Amad) but he definitely is an out and out winger. But then so are Marcus Edwards and Trincao and they thrived under Amorim (Edwards on occasion) in the 10 half space.
Edwards has always naturally been a wide playmaker to be fair. Its why as a youngster he drew Messi comparisons

Didn't say we should sign him though. Too old and would cost a lot.

But: Why would you prefer a wing back if Amorim used wingers on that position at Sporting? I wouldn't mind a LM to play there as long as they work hard.
Because wingers who actually have the defensive work rate/discipline for the role are not ubiquitous. I'd not like us to sign a winger and try to convert them to wing back. They should have at the least the base level of defensive work rate first. Currently the only winger I desire us to sign with wing back potential is Quenda

£90m for a 27 year old winger with 15 Premier League goals to his name. Game’s gone mad.

Also, Mitoma is Japanese so he fills the Asian quota, not the foreign player quota. That way they can sign both Duran and him.

FFS. Al Nassr bidding crazy money for all these players except Rashford. What have we done to deserve this?
I think we’d have got crazy money for Rashford but he clearly still has ambitions of playing for England so will want to stay in one of the larger leagues around Europe!

Why are Saudis coming in for everyone’s players but ours. So annoying

Bonkers that Brighton rejected the initial £65m offer.
It’s 65 million euros according to Ornstein and we’d never let him go this late in the window, it’s like Arsenal trying to get Caicedo in Jan with the player pushing to leave, we just said no as it doesn’t work for us.

If they’re still interested in the summer and he wants to go, it’ll be different.

Not convinced we would considering his wages and the fact the club wants him gone. He currently earns around £250,000 per week more than Mitoma does currently.

His contract would also probably have crazy appearance, goals bonuses etc whilst I feel Mitoma's would probably be quite modest in comparison.

Would be a tasty front three of Ronaldo, Mane and Mitoma though.

It was reported earlier in the window that there were 3 Saudi clubs interested in Rashford, the problem is he wasn’t interested in them. Unfortunately for us.
Let's talk to the godfather to make Rashford an offer he can't refuse...

€95m bid rejected holy shit.

I always wonder... When a club rejects a big offer like that could it not simply be the player telling them that he's not going to Saudi no matter what? But in order to appear "strong" it's the club that rejects the offer outwardly? They are not getting the money anyways, so they might as well flex.

If I was a player I'd be telling my club I have absolutely no interest in playing there, so any bid that comes in I don't want entertained because I won't move there.

Maybe Mitoma has done the same and Brighton therefore just outright refused it.

It would be a travesty if a player like Mitoma goes to play in Saudi Arabia. I imagine it would be very disappointing for the Japanese people to see one of their brightest players retire at 27.

I'd be surprised, if it was just Mitoma saying no, presumably they would have spoken to player's agent first to see if it is worth making an official bid and may have got some encouragement depending on the wages they offer. He's currently one of highest paid players on 80K a week, so it would be easy for a Saudi team to double that. And it is very unlikely they would put in a bid without knowing Mitoma's intentions.

But the club have always been clear that they will only allow players to leave when it works for both the player and the club and given we're still hoping for Europe, losing our best winger mid season with no time to replace him does not work for the club. So they'll reject the bid outright.

It's a similar situation to when Arsenal tried to sign Caicedo in the January before he went to Chelsea. The club will have spoken to Mitoma and if he really wants to go, he'll be allowed to leave in the summer and we'll be planning for that now.

I find him insanely annoying. I hope he leaves for Saudi - will celebrate it. I am not Japanese.

Of course. Mitoma is one of the best players in the premier league.

Why would he accept a move to the fecking desert to play second tier football?

Bit of exaggeration on his talent. Good player but if they were getting offers near £80m they should be taking it.

The bar is really low if Mitoma is considered world-class.

Decent to good winger, but nothing more.
