Probably Schmidt for best ever. Defensively I only saw him play, never Brooks, so can't comment, but Schmidt was awesome.

Edit: This led me down a BR rabbit hole, and you know who the #3 3B for WAR (Eddie Matthews is number 2 and Ripken does not count, he was a SS)? This guy was sneaky, under the radar, amazing.

Schmidt was certainly the better hitter while Robinson was arguably the better defensive player but Gold Gloves can often become a reputation awarding so it's probable some of those gold gloves (for both) weren't awarded based on being the best defensive 3B-man that particular season based on stats.

Robinson vs Schmidt

The Rangers currently losing in Seattle again and Houston currently winning. It would be the most Rangers things ever to get swept in Seattle, gift-wrap the division to Houston, and finish as the sixth playoff seed by holding a tie-breaker over Seattle (but wouldn't really deserve in this scenario for such a choke act).

Recently? No. Do tell.

I live a life that keeps me Schilling-free, but it’s always fun to hear what his most recent verbal & mental diarrheas are.
He dropped that Wakefield had brain cancer and prefaced it by saying “they probably don’t want me announcing this but…” asshole.

edit: Also, feck cancer. Just attended a funeral for a work colleague who died from colon cancer at 45. She was the driving force in my company launching a diagnostic that is crucial in determining the proper treatment for colon cancer. The fecking irony of it. She had a rare form that was not detectable by normal screening and not responsive to any treatments. Just devastatingly tragic.

Christ, never heard of a cancer that isn’t detectable nor responsive. Massive condolences to her family.

Thank you, she was a phenomenal person.

Should have clarified since this is important, it was not detectable by biomarker screening. A colonoscopy would/did see it.

Also, biologic therapeutics (like Keytruda) are targeted at specific, common biomarkers on the cancer cell surface. Novel/rare cancers may not have these. Regular chemo might still be effective, but for stage 4 it is not really going to do much.

I would encourage everyone to make sure they get their scopes when you are due for them, especially if you have any familial history. Biomarker screening (like Cologuard from Exact Sciences) is good, but not 100%. Colon cancer is a monster.

Still has three other women who accuse him of sexual assault. Not quite ready to knight him just yet.
Of course, but the evidence of the women's intent when trying to meet him does more damage to these other women and future women who celebrities assault. It's just so frustrating

Piss easy sweep for Tampa. What a shitty weekend for Texas after getting hot right near the end. Today's loss was pathetic.
Good luck this week. Y'all will be facing completely different pitchers these three games (well, Eflin is a holdover), but I like our hitting. Think it will be a closer series than not.

Pressure getting to ya
Is it over yet?

The team can mentally check out at times, four errors in five innings totally took the wind out of our sails. Every one of them hurt.

There’s always tomorrow. Eflin doesn’t have the strikeouts in him like Glasnow does, but he also doesn’t have the walks either.

27 playoff innings without scoring a run & counting.

The season started with such promise.

Should move the team to Tampa
Too late. The club and Pinellas County (or the city of St Petersburg perhaps) have agreed on a new stadium to open in 2028, think it was. Posted on a prior page in this thread. The new venue will probaby draw well initially but eventually the luster will wear off, especially if the Rays are bad again, and most people in Greater Tampa and Bradenton-Sarasota do not want to deal with the St Pete clusterfeck traffic. Forget about anyone east of Tampa attending games in St Pete and spending 1-3 hours driving each way.

I wanted the stadium near the Fair Grounds over by the Hard Rock Casino, near I-4 & I-75 intersect. Would also draw the Central Florida and Orlando bases on that side with easier and quicker access to/from, even with I-4 a parking lot during rush hours.

The other considered location was in Ybor, possibly near the River for a sweet looking venue on the waterside like Pittsburgh or San Francisco, though more likely off 275 in the South Nebraska block. I think East Ybor was also mentioned if they pulled imminent domain on that old suburban housing area. Either Ybor location would have been fantastic for activities outside the game in the bar district and within earshot of downtown Tampa and the Channel District.
