He's got more assists in 12 games than Antony has in his career here, he's only one goal short of Antony's total. This isn't a statement to ridicule Antony but rather one that undermines the supposed relationship currently in place for signings between Murtough and Erik Ten Hag.

Ratcliffe's involvement will successfully see the removal of John and Erik will hopefully have next to no influence over who's coming in of his own avail.

That obviously won't (and shouldn't) happen. Why would anyone want the manager to have absolutely no influence over recruitment? He just shouldn't be able to make decisions unilaterally. There's obviously a middle ground to be had.

The middle ground is understood in the latter part of the post "of his own avail". The club should only sign players based on the recruitment departments recommendations with the director of footballs input. The manager should be able to converse over these decisions but would be the last point of contact during the process. That is a top down approach. If the said manager is sacked in the worst case scenario the club has a more sustainable structure to easily manage change.
