Chelsea are set to tie up their transfer of Brazilian starlet Nathan this week after the teenager arrived in London for a medical.

The 19-year-old has touched down in the capital and will be put through his paces this afternoon ahead of completing his £4.7million deal from Atletico Paranaense.

The playmaker, who predominantly plays on the left wing, has been described as one of the most exciting young players in Brazil and will join compatriots Oscar and Willian at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are keen to add to their squad this summer despite being in pole position to win the Premier League and the Nathan deal is a central part of their strategy to buy young, hungry players with plenty of re-sale value.

The weird thing for me is that Chelsea always signs him in my FM saves as well.

We should be looking to do the same sort of thing as Chelsea in the transfer market. They've made a killing buying up some of the best youngsters and moving them on for a decent profit or keeping them if they make the grade.

He's highly rated I'm surprised they're getting him for 4.7m.

They aren't even trying with the names any more.

Why? We're not a club looking to make profits selling players on. We should only be targeting the best and most elite talents.

Chelsea sell the players if they're surplus to requirements and get made good offers, in the case they're good enough they have some of the best young players in Europe in the squad. We should most definitely not only be targeting the most elite players in Europe. Herrera/Blind/Rojo etc were not considered the most elite and have been fantastic additions.

Who are they gonna sell this year and the next?

Chelsea stockpile young players and then somehow manage to extort large fees for them. Herrera, Blind etc... were necessary signings who we signed to play consistent football. This Nathan lad will end up having two seasons on loan and then sold.

Cech? They could sell Zouma or Loftus creek who are very close to making it at the first team as well and the U19's just won the UEFA Youth final. They've got plenty to work with.

They weren't "somehow" sold for extort fees. It's what happens when you buy some of the best young players in world football, a huge part of the price tag is the resale value and potential of these players. Herrera and Blind may have been necessary but neither would be what you said we should be aiming for, the most elite.

I had hoped we'd be done signing up all these teenage "wonder kids" and instead focused on 3-4 finished products for next season. That's not to say that still won't happen but...

Because Diego Costa, Fabregas, Courtois and Filipe Luis were not 3-4 finished products you just signed, right?

How do we know if this is that 'next Messi' that we all agreed we should sign?

What does that have to do with next season? United just spent nearly £200m on finished products and are talking about spending another £100m or more.

Can't afford to remain content when all of your rivals will be splashing huge cash.

Telegraph reporting it too:

Btw wasn't this Jason Burt working for a different paper recently?

Can you imagine a team of these

Wallace, Fred, Nathan, Jo, Alan, Bernard.

Sounds like a group of builders from Doncaster.
