Not going to lie Matic, Herrera and Pogba is a pretty good fecking three-man midfield.

Mourinho let slip in his press conference (when asked about our transfer targets) that he "won't talk about players at our....other clubs". He was going to say rivals but corrects himself, which could only have been referring to Chelsea and Matic. Safe to say this is a done deal.

Yeah excellent balance in midfield. All three are good passers of the ball too. So we should be playing pretty good football when fit.

For me it's Pogba > Matic > Herrera regarding passing. Not to say that Herrera is bad at passing.

Not a big fan, but hopefully he recaptures some of his 2014-2015 form.

Rather see Matic than Carrick in our midfield.

Matic is actually not bad technically or passingwise - Was quite surprised seeing him deliver a lot when pushed further up field by Conte last season - had a good streak of assists going

Matic, Pogba, Herrera would be a great midfield trio

With sale of Fellani we will get Matic for 30m which is a fair payment for what we are getting....make it happen Jose.

believer that Sancho will turn it around
Matic would be a solid purchase IMO. He's worked with the manager before so he'll know what to expect and what will be asked of him coming in. I think he gives a level of certainty in his level of performance that wouldn't be the case with other rumored DM options like Dier and Fabinho.

Matic is still a quality midfielder. Walks into the starting XI and improves the team.

This is the bit many people miss when analyzing Matic's play. He is far from being a sit tight DM. I prefer to call him a playmaking DM. People forget that he actually used to play something like a number 10 role before at Benfica before Jorges Jesus converted him into a DM. He is therefore comfortable with the ball at his feet and going forward even with his very tall frame. Matic will significantly improve our midfield. No doubt about that.

Can Matic play as CM as well when Pogba/Herrera injured ?

4-2-3-1
Midfield: Matic, Pogba/Herrera

4-3-3
DM: Carrick
CM: Matic, Pogba/Herrera

If that's the case it would b an added bonus

I assumed it would be Matic behind Herrera and Pogba. Or Matic and Herrera with Pogba as the #10

Surely all 3 would play

Where has the increased chances of us signing Matic come from? Because of the Fellaini to Galatasaray link?

He didn't go on tour with Chelsea, who have signed Bakayoko as a replacement. Not really sure why this one isn't sewn up yet. I think Matic will be an excellent addition to the Pogba-Ander combination. I don't see a better midfield trio in England.

Only reason could be that Chelsea would rather sell abroad than strengthen a (sort of) rival

Monster performance, if he's still anything close to this level we need to get him.

3:59
But thats the whole point, he hasnt had these type of monster contributions for a good couple of seasons now.
It would be the equivalent of Everton fans playing older Rooney video's to convince themself what he could offer now.
Anyway, I hope he still can be useful as a sitting DM with Pogba & Herrera doing the running for him. Sounds promising anyway.

Same reason Costa isn't sold yet - they are demanding a high price despite there only being 1-2 credible buyers for each.

We must have had confirmation that Verrati is unobtainable so time to close out the deal.

We won't close Perisic until we are certain we can't get Bale.

He is exactly what we need and will give Pogba the opportunity to attack more.

Will be an excellent signing. We need someone who can play DM efficiently. Pogba and Herrera can wreck havoc on teams.

My Chelsea supporting mate has been slating him since he was signed, so I am not sure whether he is the right choice for our midfield. Would rather see Dendoncker or Fabinho, but still, Jose knows the best.

Hmm you follow this guy and know his performance ? I knew nothing about him tbh. Just heard his name 2 days ago.

Fully behind this signing. Jose will know how to get the best out of him.

If the Fellaini departure rumours are true, I'd like for us to get Dendoncker too. But a winger is a bigger priority.
